1. What do I do with rank patches? I know how to change the ranks on the patches, but I don't know how to use them to "apply" a rank. Is there a way?

2. What does the PRC radio do?

3. What do I do with the Elixir stuff found in the 2nd basement in Calisto?

4. What does the Colt auto trigger-group do?

5. I've taken Calisto, how common are rods and springs for the rest of the game? I don't want to waste what I have.

Thanks in advance to anyone who's able to help.

1. AFAIK the rank patches do nothing .

2. The Radio takes the place of the X-Ray device . Use it to detect baddies .

3. The green Crepaton goop takes the place of energy boosters .

4. Add it to the M4 . Go to the U.B.T. site in the laptop and look at the links there . Gives you the info .

5. Lots of rods and springs in the game . At least enough to do 24 weapons .

2. I never knew how to use the X-Ray device, to tell the truth. Do I wave it at walls, or what?

3. Not the Crepagent or Crepaboost, it's this jar of stuff, it says it's creature blood and spices.

PS: What the heck is Goose there for?

I'm going from memory, as all my notes are at home, but doesn't Goose replace skyrider (the helicopter guy)

As for 2. the X-ray device is subtle. It doesn't show you things on the main screen, but on the little tactical screen in the lower right corner (beside your mercs). Known enemies show up as red dots on that screen. The x-ray device will scan around and add red dots for enemies within range. It is only a snapshot - and uses batteries each time you use it. BTW, you can cheat with the radio (x-ray device) by saving the game, using the device to find out where that last stubborn enemy is hiding, and then reload so you didn't use up any battery life.

The crepaton liquid is for refilling syringes or inhalers. If you combine it with an empty syringe you get a healing boost, if you combine it with an empty inhalor - you get an energy boost.

But the elixer you mention is from the sci-fi version of the game. If you put it on (just like putting on a camouflage kit) you will be invisible to the bugs- sort of. They use sense of smell and can't smell you if you use the elixer. But they can see you if you get close. Be careful, it wears off after a while.

How do you "use" the x-ray device/radio? Is it always on, or what?

No. You use it by putting it in the main hand of a merc (so the merc is essentially armed with the device)

Then your target cursor should look like a remote control. You click to make it work.

Be careful, each click will use up battery power, and clicking twice won't extend the time the enemies appear in the small tactical screen.

So, of course, the radio/x-ray device must have a battery attached in order to work.

Goose = Skyrider . Have a merc with high leadership talk to him , then escort him to the chopper in Calisto ( B13 ) .
