Well, there are certain possibilities:

First, you could try to make noise outside, shooting, walking without stealth-mode turned on, or trying to open the door - even if you actually cannot open it, what will arouse the attention of the enemy and sometimes make him open the door.

Another posibility is to lockpick the door, in case you have a merc with such expertise and a locksmith kit at hand.

Sometimes shooting at the door will destroy its lock, but that only happens on occaison.

You could also try some explosives (TNT, shaped charges, ...), when available. Shooting at barrels will also do the trick, if there should be any. But I am afraid, there are none in that sector.

Hope this helps somehow. Enjoy the game and welcome to the boards ...

Well, my IMPmerc only has 35 in mechanics, I did not bring any explosives and I've tried to make as much noise as I possibly can - he he..
But I was wondering about shooting the lock, had a attack on the airport where somebody destroyed a lock..

Thanks!

Although there are some type of doors where a gunshot won't do the trick (i.e. prison doors, some types of steel doors, etc.) and I think it includes doors in the control center of a SAM sites.

ReidarNikolai ... any chance you already have a LAW? Don't hesitate to use one as LAWs can now be reloaded and therefore re-used. I also found myself in the same predicament (at Alma shooting range) and I just blew the hell off the door :biglaugh: heck, even shocked the enemy inside to the ground.

Or use the crowbar on the crates you find,or shoot the locks-if you find a law rocket or a TNT stick somewhere, palce it near the door and detonate it with a grenade.

If all else fails, you can kick the door down. Most likely, your merc will complain that it's useless. Ignore him. Keep on kicking until your merc is on the verge of fainting. Then get another merc to take over. Eventually, the door will weaken to the point that you can kick it open.

This is even more tedious than punching cows, but it *will* work....

I have heard that you can kick down steel doors this way, even the door in Orta, but I haven't had the patience to try. Mostly I've done this with wooden doors.

ehmmm
grenades are incredibly powerful in WF...
try throwing a grenade at the door...

if thats not enough, drop sum mines that u have found in the crates in front of the door and throw the grenade then.

This makes a lot of sense. I am maintaining a sentry team at Balime as town loyalty is only up to 11%. I'm trying to clear up the landscape (bushes, fountains, etc.) so an attacking army will have no cover. Instead of using LAWs or other explosives alone, I plant land mines around the area I want cleared and just throw a grenade - and viola! - nothing but burned open ground :ok:

Hm,detonating a mine you have previously cropped in the sector with a grenade is one of my favorite tactic to say "knock-knock",followed by knifing the unfortunate blowed back soldier(s).
Works for SAMs,no loyalty to loose.

Yeah, this is a pretty good tactic :whoknows: so, I had no choice but to clear them up again. I just use this tactic to clear landscapes.

I find it more useful in JA2 to detect my own mines. They arn't powerful enough to do much damage to enemy elites so using them as barricades (enemy troops cannot enter the space occupied by the flag marker) is more useful.

In WF, landmines are a lot more powerful. Maybe I'll try them out as they were intended....

Bane ...

just before reading your post, I did the exact same thing by planting mines and marking them to be used as sort of 'fortification'. I have just entered the sector before Meduna from the east after clearing the sector of 4 tanks + 40 soldiers/armed civilians :rifle: - it was really tough.
I thought of creating a stronghold of sorts for my mercs while they do a 'hit-and-run' on the first sector in Meduna. I kinda marked the way any attacking army should go Razz and added an unmarked 'trip flare' ... we'll see the result if and when I get attacked.
