I like Ron's portraits that he made very much. But I didn't like his placement of them. So I rearranged them to my own liking and I think they match up better to the personalites.

If your interested you can download them here. I did get Ron's permission to do so. Thx Ron. Smile

Improved 65 & 33 potraits. Everything is included.

There is a catch. When I was "rearranging" them I used my modified prof.dat, so your kind of stuck with that, unless you want to make the coordinate changes yourself for the eyes and mouth. The prof.dat is for expert_tonsofguns. I should have done this over a clean prof.dat, but I didn't think about it until I was half way finished.

Just put the faces in the data faces folder and the big faces in the big faces folder, then copy my prof.dat to the data 1.13, binary data folder and you should be good to go.

Who knows you might like my modified mercs too.

One last thing, I only did the AIM mercs. Not the MERC mercs, and used a couple of the other NPCs to fill in the AIM ones. Like Dynamo for Gus and Vince for Stephen, Maddog for Bull, Iggy for Lynx.

EDIT: I added some M.E.R.C mercs. These were not changed and are as Ron had them.
Gasket
Larry - both sober and drunk pics
Bubba
Cougar
Gumpy
Also Rebels
Ira
Carlos

I fixed a couple problems with the old version. you can download the new portraits here.

I added an addition to my rearranged Ron's portraits. I added a few that I liked from Ron's new portrait work. I also added BulletSix's IMP # 215.

I added. A new.

Dynamo
Shank
And 5 IMPS

I added 65 & 33 sized portraits to this. See the link above if your interested. Just add them to your data faces folder, they obviously need to be put in 65 & 33 folders there. I also added some MERC portraits as well. Everything is included in that 2nd link. Smile

Thanks. Smile They still need a little work. But I thought I would go ahead and add them anyway. There are many other people here that have a better eye for colors than I do. And I am sure can make them a whole lot nicer.

I was not happy with the 65 & 33 pics I did before. So I refined my skills and came up with much much better 65 & 33 portraits. Use the Improved 65 & 33 link above. Everything is included. Smile

They will never be implemented as defaults. So don't worry about it. I use them because they are a nice change. And the effort Ron made to create them was really something. You can have portraits galore, but making the animated faces is very time consuming. I changed these to the way I liked them, and since Ron didn't do the 65 & 33 faces to go along with his portraits, I thought I would add them, mainly for my own personal use, but since I knew alot of other people might be using these also, I made them available.

And what you like and don't like is up to you.

How hard would it be to switch Grunty and Carlos? I haven't downloaded the rearranged pics but Ron's originals have always bugged me in that Grunty seems much more like the blond crew cut then Carlos does.

It's just a matter of renaming their files to the apropriate numbers. You can find their character numbers in Proedit. You then rename each file to the right number and you have switched faces.

I added Ron's, Numb to replace the regular Fidel portrait. This one is not in the download above. If you would like it I can email it to you. I also made the appropriate 65 & 33 size pics for it also.

Edit: Nevermind. I added it to the rest of them and you can download it using the link above, added fidel.

Edit: I also updated the prof.dat, so don't forget to use it or the Fidel won't work. One last thing if you use these you will need to restart a new game.

I now have a "clean" prof.dat file for the rearranged portraits that you can download above. The prof.dat contains all the coordinate changes for the pics I changed above. The prof.dat has all the default settings, and can be placed in any of your prof places.

If anyone would like a copy of the "clean" prof.dat, just drop me an email and I'll send it to you.

Thx. Smile But the real credit and hard work goes to Ron. All I did was mix them up a little and add the 65 and 33 sized portraits that Ron didn't do. I don't have the paitence yet to make my own. BulletSix has made a few, a very nice one of Kate Beckinsale to replace one of the female IMPs. You can get it here.

Edit: One other thing if anyone notices any imperfections with the 65 and 33 sized portraits, let me know. I did fix the # 37 Wolf, 65 pic that I noticed had some lines running through it. If anyone wants it, drop me an email and I will send it to you.

Sorry, I do not know any, I just know that *.ace is an archive. I do only use *.zip or *.rar as archives myself.

WinAce is capable of extracting*.ace files. And if I'm not mistaking, so is WinRar, though I'm not to sure about that.

Only thing winrar and winace won't touch is that new format 7z. You need 7z extractor for that.

Having returned to Arulco after a long absence, I'm wondering what program you use to edit the graphics? I don't recognize any of the file types, and all of the discussions on the forum seem to take it for granted that you already know all about the various file types and editors.

I'd like to tackle a few rather simple changes, but don't know where to begin. Sorry if this isn't the right topic, but I haven't found one that fits.

I was thinking a while back... If someone wanted to take this a step further... Complete voice recordings for some of these actors could probably be put together to even replace some of the original dialog. Especially the Action movie actors.

The new portraits are great, MM. But when I tried to use it, it kept crashing/freezing my game. I overwrote my prof.dat with yours and even created a new game but still no dice. Any idea what's wrong?

That's strange. Did you rename your prof the appropriate setting your using? Like "Prof_Expert_TonsOfGuns" or whichever one your using.? In the 1.13 data, Binary data folder.

I also have a "clean prof" I can email you, that does not have the changes I made to the mercs, it only has the coordinate changes only.

I didn't rename anything, i just moved your prof.dat (i like your modded stats) to the binary folder and in the process overwrote the existing one. Luckily for me, i have a backup JA2 copy in my ext HD.
