In this thread I will report on the progress of the AR Revival project

Phase 1: Update AR for use with current 1.13 revisions

Done:
Integrated all updates, patches etc since 2014 into one AR1.4 SCI
removed all files identical to base 1.13 from the mod
removed some files that had only minimal differences (mostly old default values for NCTH that are superseded by current default values)
removed several *.edt files I temporarily introduced as a workaround for problems in Strohmann's update
split alternative music files into a separate download (saves ~160MB from SCI)
Updated all AR specific *.ini and *.xml files to 1.13 Rev 8131 (except as listed in In Progress and Open Issues categories)
Added missing subfolders to Profiles\UserProfile_JA2AR\
Compiled a list of all items introduced since the last major AR release, grouped into categories
moved IDs of AR specific CivGroups to a higher range (to avoid current and future conflicts with newly introduced 1.13 CivGroups like Volunteers etc.), updated ownership accordingly
Added <swatertype> and <usCivilianPoulation> tags to SectorNames.xml
Wrote a distribution plan to allocate new items to different maps
Adapted grid numbers and check tileset compatibility for helicopter placement at Meduna for Flugente's enemy helicopters feature
Checked if several *.dat files from Data-AR\Binarydata are redundant to base 1.13 files, => can be removed
Fixed several civilian placement and schedule bugs

In progress:
Update maps with new items according to plan
Compile a list of reported AR bugs that are actually inherited from base 1.13 (like missing headgear for JA1 and JA2UB mercs)

Open Issues

Expected release date for current phase
May 4th, 2016 (rescheduled from May 1st)
