You need to use the SLF Extractor to place the Merc EDT files into folders named after the SLFs they are extracted from.

Then you can look at and alter the speech text files with either the EDT Editor or Batman's Desktop Utility.
All these tools are available at Ja Galaxy and or Lords of the Bytes.
They take a little getting used to but a search here will answer a lot of the questions you might have.

Good luck.

thanks for the help, i just put my first file in the game (now when i tell snake to do something he says "gotcha", very cool). i wanted to know when do they say such things, i though there was a list for that. i mean, when do they say, for example: "im on my way" (i know it this one sound obvious but i cant understand some of them).

What you have to do is look at an existing merc's speech EDT (this is the text part of the dialouge that corresponds to the speech files) and write you're new dialouge based on which phrase corresponds to the appropriate action. In other words, when Ira says "You got my ear." you might write and record something like "Whaddaya want?" for Plisken. Doing each one together will both avoid confusion and keep you from forgetting any text or speech.
It's easiest to work from a merc who's dialouge youare completely fammiliar with. You can always rename any file to whatever merc you want it to correspond to.
Sorry if that's a little confusing but it's the only way I could figure to explain it.

I seem to remember someone making a generic list of speech files but I can't remember who or even in which thread this was contained. If you want to go this route you might want to try using the forum's search function.

Hello from Finland!

This is my first post here and I though this thread should cover my question so that I don't have to create a new one. My question is that is it possible to extract merc voices from v1.13 to mp3 somehow? Do I need some sort of editors?

JA2\Data\Npc_Speech should contain most of the soundfiles files. (as well as the 'lipsync files' that go with it)

I'm not sure what format they're in.
