Lets put a trunk on the vehicles! After a major battle when there's tons of equipment on the ground, you have to bring your "mules" to make multiple helicopter trips to grab all the stuff and carry it to wherever it is you use as a base of operations. Costly and time consuming, and is the most annoying bit of micromanagment in JA2.
The car inventory can work just like that of a merc, except it will have only large slots, say 20 (there are the four large slots every merc has, and I think you can add another four slots horizontaly). It will requier a new artwork but that can easyly be done with a simple image editor. That way you can use the Hummer or Ice Cream truck to store extra equipment when going on the road or to lug stuff back to base after battles. Ofcorse you can't use the car to pick up items, you need mercs for that. The car is just an inventory.
