Is the point of this project, to make a final release you can donwload and play? or will I always need the official CD's? or/and to compile the project yourself?

Also, is there a timeframe for the project, to make the first release?

sorry if I sound like a nobrain-leecher-type, I realy arn't...
And I do know you are all doing a great and hard job, to get evertingh to work! Very Happy

you'll always require the cd's, since whether whatever people release will always either be a singly binary(the ja2.exe file) and/or the source code, which when compiled will only give you the ja2.exe file as well, so in all cases you'll still need to have the game installed, for the sounds, the maps, the pics, etc. etc.

even if someone decides to build a complete mod using the source-code, it likely won't include all the data from the cd's to decrease download size.

Can I simply install JA2, use the new release, and then play, whitout the cd in my cd-rom-drive? That will help me alot... (my play disk is evil, and not easy to read from)
but my Install disk is very, readable Very Happy
will it be legal to host the data on a homepage?

If you download the latest patch (1.07), you don't need the playdisc at all. Besides all the other stuff, it works as a no-cd crack.

it doesn't require the CD, because the copy protection is not in the exe...
you will need the original for the data files since right now many of them are not modified
