Hi all!
Our guy has made fully functional version of ja2 with 800x600 screen resolution. I've heard some of you are working hard at the same problem, but I could't find any release of your work at the forum.

Very nice! Any way to get it to work in English? The installation also switches the language to Russian, and frankly there are just so many things im willing to do for JA2 (studying Russian isn't one of them).

Hi Tyco! Swithcing to English is an easy task. I'm going to get the 800x600 sources and recompile them with English settings. May be the author is going to do it himself. Wait a little plz:)

Will this be an "exe" release or will the source code for it be available as well?

Why i'm asking is with the source code for it, it can be incorporated along with any other modifications made by the White Hat team. And exe release will mean that they'll still have to do all the work again. Reinventing the wheel so to speak.

OK, I've talked to Bezumnij_Kovrik and we came to such a conclusion.

1. English exe version will be done very soon (today in the evenind or tomorrow)
2. Source won't be avaliavle soon, because 800x600 is only the little piece of the idea. Our team is working upon several projects like Ja2-based Fallout (with the Fallout based physics and environment), cruel realistic Real War mod, NightOps, etc. Our guys (and ladies, too) work hard, you may look at the activity of our community on ja2.ru. As for BearPit forum, we don't see much activity of modders here. We are ready to exchange our ideas and pieces of source code to your results of modding. If you have some nice embodied ideas, you may write to me, S-Vertal@yandex.ru

To drop bear: I dont want to offend anybody, but the activity of russian forum is much more higher - 66000 posts for 3 years and 737 members vs about 75000 posts for more time and 2600 members:)

By the way, why won't the patch work without installing all the .edt files that came with it? How critical is it for the system?

Well I don't know about .edt files. I should ask the author. Actually, this patch is for Russian Buka version of Ja2, with some alternate graphic and edt files.

I don't know for 100% about Gold version, but sources are based on v1.12, & I think that it will wark without problems.

This works very well and Thank You Very Much to creators!

I like the drop everything option very much, it makes possible to play JA2 as a UB-style commando mission as well as good debugging. Please keep us updated, this is really good (just as your engish Smile )

Is there any way to mod the weapons with this version apart from recompiling?

Could you release the modified source code?

I wanna try a few tweaks in the source code (about LoS, ranges, and maximum sight) but if i compile my own version, it will play with the original 640x480 resolution.

So... i want both! i want to mess with the stuff and also want your beatiful 800x600. Or at least, pls indicate what files are modified.

I would like to see the code, too. I know it's a lot of work but could you write a tutorial like Digicrab's, so that everyone would be able to play 800x600 with their personnal options? But the modified code would be more than enough Wink .

I thought that our version on the CVS had changed the resolution into defines, and that those defines are set to 1024x768. Now, it doesn't seem to work in reality, but thats another matter... :rolleyes:

Its doesn't work properly because joker didn't finish....

while merging the code I saw what he did... also noticed some things that doesn't appear to be correct..

I guess I can look at it and see whats wrong/incomplete

defines are ok... they can easily be pointed to variables later

I did get the 800x600 to work and there is A LOT of code that needs to be altered. SirTech used 600x480 throughout the code instead of a variable which means that almost every file has to be changed.

If you guys are going to attempt this, this should be the first thing you tackle since so many files need to be modified (err.. ReWritten Wink )

When I started playing with it I simply used 800 x 600 as SirTech used 640 x 480 so it defeats the purpose you guys are trying to do. (variables)

Also, my source has many other changes (ie. Landing zone, Cities, Garrisons, Patrols, etc...)

It won't work for what you're trying to do...

By changing the numbers on these lines in sgp.cpp you can get other resolutions in tactical map.

SCREEN_WIDTH = GetPrivateProfileInt( "SGP", "WIDTH", 640, INIFile );
SCREEN_HEIGHT = GetPrivateProfileInt( "SGP", "HEIGHT", 480, INIFile );

You do get the other resolution in the other windows as well, but the graphics there are still just the 640x480 block. Only tried with 1024x768 so I cant promise anything with other resolutions but it should work there too. Only glitch Ive noticed after some hours of playing is that in some menus you can only move the mouse cursor to the 640x480 bounds.
