I just got Wildfire and yes the Source code is there and it uses JA2 1.10. This means much tougher A.I. as well as the cover display and LoS display keys. So far it's very tough, even on Beginner mode. The maps are very well done, IMO, and the tall grass everywhere does seem to allow you to hide a bit better and sneak a bit closer to enemies. I think the weapon damage is a bit high now, though my mercs are in pretty poor armor so far so I'm waiting to make final judgement on that score.
Who every didn't have Elliot show up in the first move may have the warez of an earlier beta, as has been mentioned in another thread. Or if you have a rip the rippers may have broken something because the movies work fine in my version.
Other than that, for 20$ it's a cheap deal especially with the source code. I haven't played the original campaign in a while so it's not bad to go back, especially with the changes to all the sectors making the actual combat different, even if the story line is basically the same.
Getting money to keep your mercs is a pain though. I screwed up, it seems, by going for Drassen right off the bat. It was a tough fight with some nice gear as a reward but cost me down time and I can't get the mine into production so I'm running out of money to pay my mercs so I plan to restart and read my email more carefully this time.

Well, game-wise, it doesn't sound like I'm missing much...
I am almost done with my first pass at Wildfire and frankly, it's a great mod. It's through (great new weapons - abakan rulez, some new art) and true to it's roots. If you can, (I'm sure you have stopped looking at this thread) check it out.
