Hey there

Is there some trick to repairing scopes ? I've got two mercs with good mec (100 & 89) and the one also has Electronics. I've been able to repair everything else that attachs to my weapons, but not the scopes. I just found a Coliminting (sp?) scope that says it "adjusts scopes" so I figure that plays a role, but I can't figure out how. I tried attaching that to a weapon that also had a scope, I tried attaching a scope to it & attaching it to a scope, no luck. I tried having it in my hand when I did a repair, still nothing. I've got several scopes that are now down past 50%, and are doing more harm then good, and I just can't do anything with them.

Thanks
Mike

The collimator scopes only fit Russian weapons like the AKM, AK-47,AK-74 and the RPK-74. However it's not a scope, it's a rod&spring actually, it brings down the AP's for single and burstfire that's all. It does not enhance your accuracy in any way. You should be able to repair them though.

The Leupold Sniper scopes can not be repaired, If you find one that is above 80% put it on your gun, if it's more damaged then 80% leave it off and sell it at Tony's, he will pay well for them. Don't worry, you will find and be able to purchase fully operational sniper scopes later on.

Hmmm, Ok I'll try that. I tried putting it on a Russian sniper rifle, (the VSU I think it was ? The one that is the shortened version of another sniper rifle) it wouldn't go on but, I could add a Leupold scope to that weapon. I'll try it on one of the Soviet "assault" rifles.

As far as i know the Leupold+laserscope fits all Western rifles (The ones i found anyway) and all the sniperrifles i got, both Western and Russian. I checked my game and the collimator is on my RPK-74, AKM, and AK-74. I remember it fits some SMG's aswell. Just try, it's pretty self-explainatory.

Headshot

Sorry, got things a bit crossed there. When I said "it wouldn't go on" I was talking about the collimator scope, not the Leupold scope & laser.

Now that I've ignored the description of the "collimator scope" I know what it is. They might want to seriously consider changing the description, because it was highly misleading, or it was to me at any rate. If they'd described it simply as a "Red Dot Sight" it would have made it much clearer. They are also generally NOT called scopes, just sights. Scope implies magnification. Sight is just an aiming tool.

Ok, quick question, so far the only collimator scopes I've found are russian, and only fit on russian arms. Are there Collimator/Reflex sights that fit the rest of the weapons in the game ?

Again, i could give you an easy answer, but again i will refrain myself...

Collimator will only fit the Russian AK types and some SMG's. That's it. Collimator scope, which isn't a scope, laser, Leupold and Bipod. These are your only options.

Hmmm, I'm beginning to see a trend here Wink It seems that we're both of a rather similiar mindset, since we both have asked a bunch of hard questions that can't seem to be answered with anything other then, "Well, that's how they did it!" Which, to my way of thinking at least, isn't really an answer at all.

There seems to be a lot lost in translation with those two. Frankly, their answers are often too hard to interpret or are simply "you are use illegal copies. goodbye." and therefore ignorable. There are a few players that get it however and a few good answers to be found there.

Will 75% be okay?

Would a scope actually allow you to pick out targets more quickly? I mean, they do reduce your peripheral vision. The only one I can think of that doesn't is the scope on the Steyr Scout, which is forward enough that you can keep both eyes open.

Mr. Headshot, you mentioned both the AK-47 and AKM. The AKM is a generally superior variant (easier to make and cheaper to make) version of the AK-47. I have gotten 4 AKMs, but no 47's. Huh?

@Idiotgod

The sniper-scopes in JA2 Wildfire increase your chance of hitting a target, nothing more. Do not use scopes under 75%, they will get you a penalty to hit, instead of an advantage.

About the AK-47, maybe i mixed it up with The Shady Job Mod. Or maybe you have to play with Tons of guns option on. I don't remember
