I don't really know what the Import/Export buttons do. All you have to do to make changes in Proedit is make the changes then hit Save.

the Export button creates a text file called MercDump, which summarises the stats of all the characters (those who are recruitable) on one page.
Presumably, you can edit this file & then press Import, but I can't imagine anyone preferring this method.

So this feature is completely unnecessary.

Despite my editing the NPCS with proedit, they don't seem to have changed. Any reasons why. I am using JA 1.13 If that makes a difference.

You need to rename the Prof.dat file (in Banarydata) to the difficulty level you're playing.

Prof1.dat = easy
Prof2.dat = experienced

etc.

That's for v1.13, right? (Because it's not needed for my various "proper" versions like 1.06, 1.10, 1.12.)

Yes, it's for 1.13.

The reason Mugsy did it this way is so modders could have mercs start with various equipment/stats depending on difficulty level. I believe there was also another reason but can't remember.

But with other versions you don't need to do this. All the info is contained in Prof.dat and that is the only file that is referenced.
