There is really much to worry about. But I believe (yes, I really do! in new JA 3 title. Some of these negative opinions may be true. Whatever. I hope that at least some of my (our) wishes/dreams will come true!.
@Richard
Ja community is most patient in the world. We are waiting for the continuation of the Jagged Allance series for a long time (near 10 years?). So I think we can wait more:-). Please, do not hurry, treat JA3 like a child and take care of it:-).

1. I dont see how posts can show that a game engine is a joke, but on the other hand I am disconnected with reality as you put it.
The posts, the spread of posters and the target audience of this forum did in fact form a consensus that the engine for JA3D was pretty shite. This came from viewing screenshots of the game posted on Mistland's very own site. Of course, with most personal interpretations of what looks 'good', it's in the eye of the beholder, so I have no problem dropping the graphics argument.
Quote:2. You seem to be awfully against mistland which can be understandable concerning their track record so far but understanding can go so far. I have been tracking your posts across the forum and you have been against them since day one.
Their track-record shows that they seem incapable of publishing a single game that was actually fun to play and worth trying. Sometimes the creative idea behind things was quite good, hell, the idea of making a game based on the KGB's Alfa special forces is pretty cool all by itself. Strangely enough the game turned out to be complete and utter shite.
If you have been tracking my posts across the forums, I'm sure you'll have stumbled across mine and other people's battles with the developers who hated turn-based combat mechanics with a passion. What on earth makes you think that someone who hates the entire core principle of the game he is working on is going to deliver anything but a half-arsed lump of shite?
I'm more willing to give an untried and untested team the benefit of doubt, because, lo and behold, they have not released anything for public scrutiny so I have nothing to judge them on.
Quote:3. The same people who chose to make mistland responsible for creating JA3d are the ones that also gave over the development of JA3 to this new unproven Russian team.
The same people who chose to then withdraw the responsibility from Mistland because they were dissatisfied with the product being offered? Demons, I tell ya! Sure, they could have done so earlier, or not even bother handing Mistland the contract in the first place, but in the end, they took what I percieve to be the right decision.
Quote:4. Companies work, as have been tirelesly said with profit in mind (logical) but, strategyfirst works with bargain games in mind. THINK what that will do to your/mine/our precious JA series.
Much worse than what Mist Real-time-at-all-cost,-raaaargh! Land did? Surely not. I'd accuse SFI of working with niche and bargain developers, not just the latter. They have not released an in-house game for quite some time anyway, but the last game had quite some hangers-on (Disciples).
Quote:5. Motivation. Well I believe (IMHO) that mistland, now GFI Russia is highly motivated to proove that their product works far better than JA3. Not to mention that they will deliver within the year while JA3 . . . . well who knows it might come out sometime in this century. But I wonder will it JA3 or Silent Storm upgraded?
-Motivation? What on earth, after the countless discussions turned into flame-wars posted by Mistland staff about how worthless turn-based games are makes you think that they had the motivation and the required amount of love and care to put into a product that they seemed to seriously dislike? Is this a 'despite all evidence to the contrary' gut feeling?
-Release Date? I don't care when they want to release the game, being first on the calendar does not make a good game. Surely you are not trying to argue it's a race and the first is the winner?
-The technology of Silent Storm was damn good, if it's Silent Storm Upgraded, including all the Jagged Alliance mechanics, as tirelessly repeated by the people making it, that is perfectly fine with me. JA has no room for Panzerkleins, invisible men in the middle of a clear road and a pistol-skill level of 300 meaning you can make three people explode on the other side of the map with just one .38 bullet, so that's most of my criticism of the SS series catered for.

Remember "Braindead"?.Remember what main hero - Lionel did with that ugly monster - child?. Believe me, if JA 3 will be a crap (I hope not)...Well,I'll buy more gasoline for my Husgvarna chainsaw.
Yeah, it's a little bit mysterious about system of JA3. What "Initiative system" really mean?

problem with 3d aren't the buildings, rather the chars
mercs in 300 meters distance would be freakin tiny
screenshots look likt fighting distances of 5 meters was the solution to this... what can we say, let's wait for more informative screenies

This Akella guys (the new developers) are definately not the same as Mistland. While all their games are far from revolutionary they made the well recieved Sea Dogs and also Pirates of the Caribbean. They also have a game that looks very promising, have a look at it here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/heavyduty/index.html
I'm sure they'll make a decent job out of JA3 :venus:

Keep in as many gameplay features as already exist in Ja2, make maps at least the same size and throw modders a bone or twenty and they'll have something I'll be playing for the next decade.
From your lips to the developer's ears! :ok:

The big point I am going to make is you all buy the game when it comes out then report back to the rest of us and if it is a true JA game we well be tearing the doors off the stores to buy JA3. However, if it is crap then you Richard and SFI are stuck with it. We are the people who what to play this game, possibly buying this game, and we are the ones you should satisfy, or you can play it all by yourself while we play JA2 v1.13, and if JA3 is not as good as v1.13 I will not be buying it period.

It's already been mentioned in another thread. But I just want to voice my troubled mind and spread the bell of concern here, harking:
dread the duck-waddle animation
And if it is the same engine as the SS/Hammer & Sickle franchise -- then bigger maps, smaller characters would be out of the picture. The engine, pleasing to the eyes it maybe, is just not optimized enough to handle the same ratio size as it had with JA2 maps.
And I hope the 'critical' ZOOM in death sequence aren't included in JA3. It became repetitive lightning quick.
Otherwise, the game has the potential to please and wow neophytes and o'l devotees alike.
