I can't wait to try this mod out. Just tell me where the download link is when a new version is ready.

I loved all the new maps, storyline and characters but could not get too far in original UC because of freezes or crashes.

@Tbird - I've got a preference for the old Urban Chaos SA80's myself, besides need to keep the "family" look of the pair.

@John Wright - We've fixed (we hope) some of the map crashes related to G8, G9 and even I3 though more robust code (Judge explained about four pages ago) and some minor map edits. At the same time I've introduced new bugs and CTD causes...

@Ramirez - no worries, I was wondering when people would start commenting on the stock system. Many months ago I was sure the stock system would be a point of controversy.

@Starwalker - yes it is is a contradiction, I needed sleep at the time. The ability to have the game random select between two or more "must-have-one-of-these" attachments is probably the easiest way in code to give some variety to stock modes. With a range, we could have a two to one ratio of folded/extended or vice versa; 1/3 strikes again...

@Panpiper - I've created a tentative rework of the entire scope system. At the very least all the "General" vision bonus have been replaced by Day/Bright Daylight/night (very minor) specific vision bonus. Left cave vision at 0, as basic optics don't work so well in total absence of light.

And again a few impressions.

- I always set the turnspeed of enemies and civilians to '0' to speed the turns up. This does work significantly in 1.13. But I'm very sure it doesn't in Hybrid. Possible?

- Although I've killed more then 300 enemies by now - 'mine'-sector of Calisto is only one in that city left - these are the weapons they have dropped:
Lots of Scorpion, SKS, AKS-74U, Bizon, PM (pistol), Car-15, Udar, a few Saigas and Mp-133 and 1 AK-105. (Drop all).

As there is a big possible variety of equal weapons I wonder why it's always these types? Is it only me seeing this or other players too?

@Ramirez - The Danubia "Order of Battle" is somewhat more restricted than Alruco (1.13). From what you're seeing, you seem to be through the lower Quarter of the progression. What are your settings? How many cities have you liberated? There's more to see, and don't forget about the new arms dealer in Galileo.

If you wanted to, you can "borrow" the Enemy____ Choice.xml's from the DATA-1.13; but I'll warn you that some of the former Soviet Republic flavour will be lost in the process.

I would have actually gotten rid of the CAR-15's, if it wasn't for the storyline (speak to Smitty in Port Kip). Danubia is supposed to be Eastern European, or close to enough to it(there was a fun little discussion on Georgia's status in Europe during the Political Studies conference here at the UofM last month). Sorry, my education (and sometimes professional) life is intruding into what is supposed to be my escape from reality.

Ah, I see. I'm playing insane and just freed Calisto. I was just wondering that it were always the same types no variety. Also strange that no other attachments are used. But then again: I didn't keep the 'Order of Battle' in mind.

I ordered 5.56 ammo at BR and found the new RIS/LAMs etc. But how do they get attached to a rifle? Or do I need other rifles first? The description says something about a railsystem?

Weapons equipped for Rail Interface System (RIS) attachments will have RIS as part of their description. Please note that most of the gear you'll find in Danubian hands will be equipped for the Russian Small Arms (RSA), or SVD mounting system (noted as RSA Mt. and SVD Mt. in the weapons description). I'll need to go back through the descriptions and make sure they're listed correctly.

To round things off we still need:
- Rifle LAM compatible with Russian rifles (need to do some research on this one first though, I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a Russian LAM)
- I'm going to hack Marlboro Man's "Old Fashion" Aim Point Projector for its clamp mount and graft it onto the sniper scope; that way we have an early generation Battle Scope (That or I'll simply let the G3 family be able to mount the existing Battle Scope )

This topic is going to emerge sooner or later: I'm thinking of changing the PSO/SVD compatible Modified M4A1's from Assault Rifle to Sniper Rifle. That way the player can actually make full use of the PSO and other SVD type sniper scopes on the modded M4A1's (extra aim points may be allowed for sniper rifles).

Edit: A few minutes of research later
Found some LAM's that mount onto the PSO and PSOP, I'm getting an idea...

Also, I'm finding criticism of the AN-94 being unable to fire when its stock is folded. For the UC-1.13 Hybrid, this could mean the removal of the folding stock feature as this feature is only used for storage, and would prohibit firing. Any thoughts?

Well I am no weapon specialist at all. But seeing the HK G11 only able to attach a normal LaserSight is quite shocking coz this is one of my favorite weapons Sad. If SM.SCP means SmallScope then the description says the G11 is able to mount it but isn't ingame.

Is it that this weapon has no possible reflex and scoping attachments? That would be a disappointing.

What I do like is the new price system.

Back to G11 again. Would it be easy (for me as a none-modder) to get the G11 at least a reflex scope and one of the newer attachments (RIS/Tac LAM)?

As far as I know, the G11 didn't have much in the way of mounting points for gear.

The original JA2 laser sight is described as being trigger guard mounted, therefore I made it more or less universal.

The Small Scope mentioned is under "Features:" where all the built-in stuff is listed. Checking the XMLEditor to be sure, the currently distributed Beta should have the stats for the small/battle scope embedded in the stats for the H&K G11 (will do same for the H&K CAWS for next release). Hate to say this, but in this regard the G11 seems to be a bit of a historical oddity: futuristic case-less ammunition, but pre-dating the trend toward having massive amounts of options via standardized interface systems.

Further request:
As the mount system seems to have become more specialized it would be helpful if the description in BRs shop would mention which mount system it uses/what can be attached to it. Assuming this would be easy - even for me Very Happy - I offer to put this in. Just need a list and which file has to be edited.

Good point, but I'll take care of it. I need to double-check all the item descriptions anyways. The descriptions are embedded in items.xml, where the stats for vision and to-hit bonus (things I've been working on today) among other stats are located.

Just keep posting anything of concern you find.

Actually, wait for me to start a new thread later today. We're running out of room here. I want to put some kind of status board at the very top of the new one.

Looks like we've been working on more or less the same thing there Pustekuchen. If you'd like, I can add you to the list for next release (next week or two).

Beta testing is relatively easy:
1) Try and Critique my convoluted install instructions
2) Try to play though to the end before something savegame breaking happens (xml's or 1.13)
3) See what you can break in-game

Wow. I step out for a moment, and now there's ten pages of forum I have to catch up on!

@wil473 re the install... I've had some experience using InnoInstall - a GPL install shield program - which has built in compression and the ability to check the registry (so we can figure out whats installed where).

When I get some spare time, I'll tinker with an install package so we can see how it might work.

@panpiper re the disappearing militia... there are still a few bugs lurking about with larger cities. Auto-distribute is one of them (try it with a city half under control like Galileo - they get distributed to enemy held sectors too!). I'm working on them, as well as trying to get my large militia movement dialog tidied up.

re the corrupt unloadable save. I've two of these saves so far - both have been quick saves, at night, in a storm, when I was in sight of one or more enemies on a roof. So far I've only ruled out the storm as the cause of the problem. I'm not sure this is UC related.

re the bloodcats... I'd disabled the bloodcats in the past (in the exe), but now we have a map editor the easiest solution would seem to be to move the cats to non-city sectors.

@TrailBlazer re the laptop. Yeah, I managed to replicate all of your changes - but am toying with some means to add new custom pages to the laptop without overwriting the old. I've got the new pages loading in, but I'm suffering from all sorts of memory leaks/crashes at the moment.

As I've only ever experienced a corrupt save once, I too could not say whether it was UC related. I fooloishly did not save my corrupt file and do not remember all the particulars of the moment. It was during the day and I had only two mercs in the zone. Both were on the same roof and I believe there were two enemies in sight. I do not recall if the enemies were on the roof or not.

I have a second non responsive save. It is on the beach in Drake, daytime. My six mercs are crouched behind a stone fence and Ayana has an enemy sniper interupted in mid run. The sniper is at extreme range (two screens) and on a rooftop.

I reloaded a save from very shortly before (I stagger saves) and saved over the corrupt save (perhaps not the smartest thing to do as a tester). Within mere seconds, the game froze on me. Reloading this save will result in a freeze a few seconds into the game. I have of course saved the savegame this time. Judge, should I Email it to you? If so, please message me with the Email address I should send the attached zip file.

It is definately something about the game situation that is causing the freeze as I experience the same with the earlier save. From the save point, I group turn/aim my mercs towards the buildings to the southwest. Razor spots three enemy. I have Morgan engage one of Razor's spots and the game freezes as the enemy falls. I will restart this battle from yet another prior save, before entering the map and see if the same situation arises.

The battle went smoothly this time, having restarted from a point prior to entering the map. No bugs or freezes this time. I am keeping the old saves zipped.

Before anyone is wondering why I was using older versions in testing it up against UC, the cause is simple. I had a serious CTD trying to use any other versions newer then v. 888 with UC. right now things are just OK, sount is missing doe. Thinking of just del it all and try installing it from the very beginning, not to miss something and do shortcuts causing to blunders and errors.
