Hello! Back from an extended absence of at least 3 years...and I've forgotten how to reserve time units in JA2. I remember that you can, and I remember that it was never covered in the manual...

You know...like in the previous JA's you could set your Mercs to reserve AP's for firing after they move.
So when you had them move, they'd stop moving when they still had enough units to shoot, instead of just walking and takin up all their APs
I'm not crazy am I? I could have sworn this ability is in JA2, just as it was the previous versions...

In JA1/DG you would right-click on their portraits and they'd "flip." The reserve time units was the middle button.
It worked just like X-Com
I'm sure almost sure that is in JA2! Because I remember it was never covered in the manual, but it was in the game, came out on a forum or FAQ or something else...or am I going crazy? No, why would they NOT put it in...arrrrgh! Well...hmm...now I'm not sure, and that's going to REALLY bug me...

Yeah...I'm beginning to remember it not being in the game...which is SOOO WRONG!
It's a really handy feature in the other two.

Maybe you're misremembering the aiming thing? You know, right-click to increase AP spent on aiming, sort of that JA1/DG setting that would "reserve" AP for max aiming.
