Well?
I just remembered you can recruit him after taking 1 town, so I did.
Never have tried to use him for fighting, just for repairing grenades and rocket and crap.
He has god awful APs despite decent Agility and sleeps a lot more than the rest of my squad.
I made sure he wasnt overloaded and everything, he still had 14-16 APs each turn. All other mercs in the squad had 22. Why is that?
Hes been demoted to repairing stuff again.

SpaceVikingHe's FREE. That makes him a great value no matter what his actually utility because if nothing esle he can haul stuff for the better mercs.
Right.I always use him and don't think he's useless. He has a decent Marks, that's enough to do some shots.

Jawz IIWell?
He's not the worst NPC, but he's far from the best. Some people like him for knifing. I usually just keep him around for his mech skill, and not so much combat.

Shadow6In my current game, I've been trying to limit the use of high end guys as well. With Dimitri, you get what you pay for......
I tend to use him as a grenade lobber. His loadout for me is usually 8 frags and 8 stun as well as a few break lights and some smoke. I stay away from throwing knives with him since his AP suck and he forgets crap all the time. He's also a back up mech when I have a lot of gear to repair like after the Drassen counterattack.
I've used him as a grenade lobber, but I'll usually just keep him as a support mech. Dimitri pissed me off when he misthrew a grenade and ended up destroying Mike's G11 rifle (I usually keep it as a trophy).
Really what you want in a 'nade lobber is a the throwing skill coupled with high dexterity and reasonably good strength. For me, that means either Blood or Sydney. Dimitri's dex is too low until you've repaired a lot of crap. His marksmanship is so-so.
Quote:
Meh. I kind of like Hamous. Give him a sniper rifle, not a bolt action, and he's good to provide some long range support. Plus, I find his lines hilarious.
"Eh... you got sumthin in your teeth man."
I already have somebody like that: Wolf with an SR-25. Phenominal shot (better than his starting MRKs suggests). And he's also reasonable in CQB. I generally won't play a game without recruiting Wolf at some point.

Hamous is like Barry. He's a "safe" as far as relationships. His only saving grace is that he's got MRK of 78. But he's also dumb as a dog turd and low in everything else. For $20 a day, you can hire Shank and turn him into whatever you want him to be with a little training (thanks to high WIS). I think Hamous the worst hire-able NPC in the game, followed by Dynamo (he's got issues with everybody and drags morale down...go with MadDog if you want a free mechanic).
Back to Dimitri, I have promoted him back up to my B Team. With a little work of his Dexterity, he becomes a good grenade lobber. Just don't hire Stephan when Dimitri is around.

Jawz IINo, ist just that some mercs hate other mercs, but its very specific.
Like for example: Gasket hates Igor and Ivan.
I think steroid hates Igor and Ivan too. Buzz hates Lynx. And so on.
Put Grizzly on team and Steroid will not leave, only be a little annoying.

Jawz IIyeah I think he likes grizzly.
But anyhow, I don't like steroid, Low agility, even lower than grizzly. Since theyre about the same price, I just hire Grizzly instead.
I think the same thing... the bad thing is that Grizzly doesn't crack me up as Steroid does (I still remember the first times I heard "Steroid is, uh, unavoidable right now" and "My contract is, uh, up yours for renewal")
really, what about the player's morale?

Sry mate, but I haven't tested Numb with Scope/Sidney so I didn't know there was a mistake on this table.
This table was based on Patusco's JA2 Strategy Guide Version 1.3 on JA2->downloads->documents.
I gave this table for you as a basic info, cause I used to view that a lot.
But there is an alternative info source:
JA2UB Merc Information Charts on JA2:UB->downloads->documents
There you will find out that Numb [color:#FF0000]hates Scope,Sidney & Vicki,[color:#009900]likes Malice,[color:#009900]is liked by Haywire and [color:#FF0000]hated by John,Len,Reaper,Wolf.

I have to say that even though Dimitri is free and has a reasonably good Mk'ship score, I think he's a dud overall. He seem to take ages to fix anything, he has low AP's in combat and I have found that he throws like a 9 year old girl - pathetically inaccurate a lot of the time.
Even with a good weapon with scope & laser site he only becomes bearable. His dialogue is OK but "I forget, I forget again" just makes me want to frag his ass out of sheer frustration!
Having to issue his movement orders more than twice is just so dam annoying. And it's not as though he has the lowest wisdom either.
I end up using him as a mule and back up guard where you know the BG's are going to attack. At least that way he can back up the militia with Hamous and they get some battle experience. When he is not being a pack mule he is left to fix simple things as I don't care about much about him but at least he's doing something semi useful.
I like Hamous for his dialouge and that he is a better combat Merc at the beginning than Dimitri and even though he has a low wisdom, he seems to learn faster than Dimitri, especially in Mk'ship.
I also think $250 a day is good for Hamous as that fee NEVER increases even though "me get better".

LOL,Hamous sux......Dimitri beats him a thousand times.Wisdom 35...... :computer2: It takes ages for he to learn anything....
Only got him twice: at the first time for the good old times(JA1/DG) and now for a "Locals/MERC experience".In the first game, by the time I took Hamous,Dimitri was a very good shooter and learned much more cause he always joins earlier.

He's free..........you have all the time of the world to train his DEX.
Try a non-AIM game and you will see what is playing with "the best you can get".You can edit his stats at Proedit, but that's not a fair gameplaying..... :blah:

Use knives and fists. Repair.
None of them is really effective sadly, but neither is Dmitri.
