Hi!
There was a time when I quickloaded everytime a merc got hit (or sometimes even if a merc missed) but the more experienced I get the more I just play on (actually much more fun then 'troubling' to reload etc.).
The point is what is your tactics against enemy mortar fire except night ops stealth and kill everyone before anyone is aware of you? ^^
I've got a hard time to take out the mortars, especially at daytime, and the mortar fire is quite accurate.
Any tipps?
PS: Red in some posts that 1.13 is a failure - I think that opinion is absolute crap. But thats just me ^^

Use your own mortars, snipers and take out the enemies that see you.
A few shots that hit the mortar guy is usually enough to get him to stop (he does not have enough AP to fire). Your priority targets should be the ones in your vicinity.
The mortars doesn't seem able fire unless another person of that faction sees you.
Spread out your squad so you suffer minimum damage.

Argh!! the Mortars!!
THere I was... in the Grumm mine, first game of 1.13.... Holding Drassen, 2 SAMs, Chitzena and now Grumm....
The Mine was being pummelled 2X per day it seemed by mixed black and red shirts..
My Militia would stack up near the road by the mine building then get blasted by the mortar near the bottom of the map... Battle after Battle... the first time I got hit like this I chickened out...
I re-loaded, moved my mercs back one sector (let the enemy have the mine) and hid in the bar and killed all the baddies when they popped in the door (weak but effective)...
I got a few sniper rifles.. but never had the field of view to ping the mortar guy..
thought about hiding some of my mercs in the pocket on the cliff on the east side of the map but never got there...
Eventually I tweaked the .ini files and started a new game. I added self-spawing roaming militia every 24 hours. Learned something here though... it has made the gameplay much slower... I fight FAR fewer battles because my militia are out there cleaning up the re-inforcements before the ever get to me... It also seems that my veterans have a completely unfair advantage over just about ANY mob they meet. The standard Kill ratio is about 18 to 1. So I'm calling my game "Field of Blue" for all the militia running around the strategic map... They pretty much have Meduna cordoned off. (another side effect of this is that I dont have all that gear around to sell from wiping out enemy squads..) I won't play this way again, but I am enjoying launching attacks on SAM/City/LAB/Prison sectors with militia support during the assault and an immediate cadre to guard the place. (no more annoying "Tixa has been taken by enemy forces" {he he he}).
