Do they use it? or you give them a machine gun and they still use pistols?

If you leave the sector and come back, they wont have the stuff you gave them. Atleast thats what I experienced, so basically this is a dead end...

Yes, they do continue to use the weapons! I arm my green militia with assault rifles, sniper rifles and grenades, then get them to follow me on the attack on an adjacent sector within Alma. I sit back, giving orders, spotting enemies, playing a commander's role. And that really changes my game play.
Now my mercs are like CIA operatives, training and arming militia, and they do the grunt work.

An interesting thing happened after the battle. The only militia guy promoted to cyan shirt lost all his equipment, even armor.

Usually they already have helmet and vest, so u can only give them leggings.

Another note: Im playing NewInv B5, and I have trouble giving them items like 30 round ammo mags and LBE items. 5 round sniper rifle mags are fine though. Items that they wont accept (no slots, i think) will automatically drop to the ground. Giving LBE items often results in CTD. On just one occasion, I try to give a 100 round drum mag, but it got dropped. I then put the drum mag into a saw pouch, then gave the saw pouch to him, finally he was able to accept.

Guy, do try it, and share yr experience.

Yes but anyone able to confirm what I wrote about the fact that they dont have the gear on them after you leave and reenter the sector again?

Militia would be a strong force if you could custom equip them but then, the Queens army would be weak...I guess this random thing is to "BALANCE" the odds:) Too bad...Smile

Yeah, too bad...I'm abit disappointed.

And when u give them weapons, then redistribute them to another sector, their weapons get randomized again.

That's not entirely true about the weapon randomising thing. Yes they reset as noticed by a single dark blue veteran malitia being a woman in one battle and a man in the next yet, if they pick up a weapon and are then later killed, in a subsequent battle, that picked up weapon will fall to the ground again. So the game must remember malitia equipment on atleast some level. I've had this occurr many times defending I8 central SAM. I usually take that with Maddog after getting Dynamo and Shank from Tixa and Maddog and Shank stay there for the next 100 days defending attack after attack whilst my IMP takes off with Dynamo to go get Ira and "Start the game". Many times I've had malitia pick up a weapon in one battle, often before either merc could get it themselves, anoying me at the "Lost" weapon only to have it used by another random malitia the next battle and dropped when they're killed.

Okay so that's not the same as deliberatly arming them, but leaving good weapons around for them to pick up is worth it in my opinion and experience.

Yeah there isn't much to the militia...You fight along side them and they don't remember you. I have even used medkits to keep badly wounded soldiers from dying, but you don't score any extra points with the locals.

It is a shame. I would like more interaction. Maybe when you get veteran militia you get the option to higher them as mercs...cheap but as mercs.

It would be nice to arm them especially after situations like wiping out the Hick's farm or killing Kingpins people. You have tons of weapons and they would help out the militia a lot.

It would be nice indeed to arm them permanently. A limited pool per city (growing in time) could be a compromise. Bigger cities, bigger militia pools to start with and different growth.

Another thing I would like is that they would listen better and don't change their minds every new turn. When you order them to lie down, come, or go to some place that they don't change their minds the following turn.

Your right Thor...and it would be nice to have a weapons cache each city. An arsenal to store weapons. They use them when your not there and you can alway add or drop stuff off.

Also local heroes as character. Veterans can say stuff beyond the ususal banter. It would also be nice to teach them skills in mass. You have experts in things like martial arts, heavy weapons, and other skills they should be about to pass on those talents to a larger group.

Concerning this, you know that's impossible....The RPC list size would have to be changed.Accordingly to to the Ja1.13 developers, this is available only by code changes. And imagine the size of the RPC list if you have a LOT of veteran militia.... :wrysmiley:

Does it only work in 1.13? Tried in the official version and got the clock pointer, tried waiting a minute or 2 but the game didn't respond to anything except ALT-X.

Actually Felix, that's not true. If Shank stays in Drassen, but you take your other mercs to somewhere else, and they go into a battle, then you'll load up the sector where they are, automatically unloading the sector where Shank is. His presence would then be useless.
