The main menu gets redrawn constantly, which is due to the partially transparent buttons. This causes the high CPU load in the main menu. Some other screens (e.g. the options screen) do "busy drawing", too.

Well i cant even remeber everything i did today...
* menu changed (MP has its own save game directory)
* bonus 2 points added towards interrupt if your has his weapon ready
* various message tweaks
* Interrupt fix
and some more...

did some more speed test on my older computer, and windowed mode (especially 1024x768) is much, much slower (cpu intensive)

we now have progression of the enemy turn burn when its not your turn !

latest updates only available through the SVN, grab VS Express (free) and Compile it your self, (or wait till i upload another exe...)

played a couple of good games with red last night, is getting quite fun and playable...

You'd probably be surprised, I'm sure not everyone testing it or playing with it is posting here, or joining the IRC channel. For instance, I'm probably not in a compatible timezone with most people, but I've been having a blast with this off and on for the last few months!

Don't get discouraged and think it's just you Roman, and Redgun Smile

Also, alot of people don't want to "test", they just want to play and most of them are waiting for an official release. Dozens of people on just the 1.13 forum alone have asked for multiplayer.

TBH, since the last three releases it is more 'playing' then 'testing'. nearly everything works as it is intented to and it is a lot of fun.
of course there are a few issues, that need to be solved, but hayden & roman managed do get rid of all gameplay-breakers. very gj again.

@kaiden: After the new release gets public (should be at the end of april) we are going to merge the mp project into the svn source code. Currently the mp project has NIV included + all the latest bugfixes. So it should be easy to merge it.

Redgun schooled me alright, and I learned a very important lesson Smile I need more practice against humans! Standard tactics vs. AI only work on newbs.

We only experienced a slight desynch, no crashes, no hangs, it was great!

Yes that works fine. It makes no differents. I just tested an english / german multiplayer game on my machine.

I couldnt belive-it when i had a glypmse on this thread by accident...
Could it be true? A true MP JA2 mod??
I had to check it out... so i messed this forum upside down in order to test 1.13 first
(since i never had tried it before)
And it was fabulous mod (including new inv mod)
Now im reading this thread, and about ur DM experiences... oh man! thats awesome!!
I just wanted to know how exactly the gameplay is right now...
Someone could stick a 'news' thread, that only the developers could post, about the gameplay, and actualizations.

I've tried to read the 8 pages, but i couldnt (my english is not that good)
So im gonna be some lazy ass and ask, if is not to much to ask of course:

1) How is gameplay? Do you join by TCP/IP? Do players can see each others mercs? Its possible to fight against computer on coop-mode?

2) i know it still beta, but what are the worse bugs that come in the gameplay fun?

3)Where can i find a FULL tutorial step by step of how install 1.13 mod with this beutiful mod?
Someone volunteers? ;D
Because i've spent about 3 hours to find a topic whit a .EXE file containing the mod and new inv. mod.

4) after battle ends, people gat kicked from the game, or can they get another mercs an keep pumping ?

5)custom mercs are operational?

6)How money and buying stuff works?

7) when there are no enemies around, seeing anothers players merc starts a battle? or someone have to spit the beans out first?

Anyway... i gotta tell, im really happy and excited about this mod... I live in Brazil, and the game besides of not beeing very popular, is loved beetwen the fans! Its play-and-get-adicted.

Congratulations for averyone behind this mod, and i wish the best...
As soon someone post a step by step noob neophite guide of installing the 1.13 mod i shall give a try, and become a nice tester... ;D

IP. Mercs from other players work like enemies in SP gameplay wise. Coop is not possible yet, b ut it is being worked on, iirc.

it takes 5 minutes to install and it is the best possible solution as updating is very easy.

I'm writing a guide for JA2 and i try to keep it really simple. I'll also include my gameplay observations so its easier for new players to pick up. Maybe i can finish it during this week.

If there are questions, you best ask them here or in either of the IRC channels in my signature.
The Dev Team and the regulars and arouund there pretty often.

Both players are still connected at this point. The server can restart the game, but then whoever lost has MERC deathcount and will have problems hiring mercs. Not to mention, the dead mercs are listed as deceased and cannot be hired again either.

It's best at this point, to restart the server and reconnect, it does not take long.

JA2 V1.13 Multiplayer

Requirements:
- any Windows system (which isnt older than 10 years Very Happy)
- English JA2 version (other languages might follow)
- JA2 1.13 SVN Install (http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=56723)

Installation:
- Make sure your install is up to date
- Copy the contents of the extracted release to your root Ja2 directory
(i.e. to "C:\Program Files\TalonSoft\Jagged Alliance 2\"

Setting Up a Multiplayer Game:
- Open "Ja2_mp.ini" in your JA2 directory
- Set all Parameters to the appropriate values (-> Settings)
- Save & Close "Ja2_mp.ini"
- Start "ja2_mp_actual.exe" and select "Multiplayer Game"


If you host the game:
- Chose your settings and click "Ok"
- click the "Show Airspace Button" (Helicopter Icon) and move the bullseye to the sector you want to play in
- Press "1" and "2" and wait for other clients to connect

If you aren't the host:
- Click "OK" and Press "2"

@all: Additional multiplayer install informations:

- Multiplayer EXE is also available for German Version.

- Download location of latest mutliplayer files
http://ja2.h758491.serverkompetenz.net/Wanne/MP
(Just download the *.RAR file and extract it in your JA2 root directory,
Then start the multiplayer game with English or German EXE)

I have some things for you Smile

- after server started, it should automatically connect with client. so we are sure that server is always client1.
- sync of death merc not working 100%
- remove CLIENT_NUM from ja2_mp.ini and set it automatically
- Switching from Turn-based to Real-Time: server (=client 1) has greyed out interface but all the actions work fine
- I cannot hire more than 4 mercs. Is that correct? It gives me a message box that I cannot hire more than 18 mercs.

Oh, it was my fault. Merc limit is set to 4 in the ini. But we should change the text of the message box (18 merc limit) in multiplayer.

fixed a few things , up on the svn now. server auto connects, no need to specify ip if server. client numbers are auto assigned from the server, no need to spcify in the ini.

also patched the 18 merc message.

still working on the other two issues mentioned.
