Ambush was JA name while on project stage.....

Ambush

Here's a thread about it:

Thread

Never had played this Ambush at Sorinor. Are you saying this elven/orc/etc. game is similar to JA in its mechanics?

someone, somewhere up there ^ in the threads, said that the actual official name of the game is "Ambush at Sorinor", but people just used the word "Ambush". Dunno.. this time i blindly take someones word for it Smile

"Ambush at Sorinor" has nothing to do with Ian Currie and JA. As someone already mentioned, "Ambush" was the project title for "Jagged Alliance 1". Back then they named their projects in less technical terms than v1.13... :innocent:

So if you want to play Ambush, play JA1. :rip:

Btw, did you know what was the name of Ian Currie's littl' startup company? Madlab Software... hehe...rings a bell doesn't it?

Hey Guys

If anyone here can help on this one I'd be incredibly grateful: I've just downloaded JA1 from abandonia, and am attempting to run it using DOSBox on my MacBook (Intel Core 2 Duo) running Mac OSX 10.4.11.

It initially APPEARS to run beautifully, loads fine etc. But then it becomes completely unresponsive to my keyboard / input of any kind, and upon showing the intro animation (of the house getting blown up), it then takes me to the next screen with the artwork of the three faces all stacked up like a star wars poster, then shows me to the credits, then boots me out. Sad

If this is sounding familiar to anyone, or if it's sounding like you might be able to help please give us a yell

It's a very very very old game on a very very very complicated piece of hardware - Apple running DosBox. There are a million things that can go wrong.

I dont even dare to give you any advice, just to try and find the crappiest Windows machine and try the game on that.

WELL -- believe it or not the guys over at Abandonia troubleshooting got it working for me.

Shanga I know, it's almost like I'm TRYING to make it fail, running JA1... in DOSbox... on a Mac!! And truth is, it's so frigging buggy and hangs so often that it really ISN'T playable. I really love what I've seen so far though (which is nothing but the intro and AIM, actually).

I do own an old PC, but it doesn't live with me, and I don't have any plans on trying to squeeze it into my studio apartment anytime soon. They should release JA as an all in one, built in hand console. Very Happy

Also, in the original JA1 did the mercs talk when you interviewed them in AIM? I'm guessing not?

Well, my memories are fading, but there was a voice pack, but dont expect it to be as extensive as in JA2.

I might check.. i've got a copy with all the speeches and all (i suspect anyway, as it's so damned big). It should be hanging somewhere in my JA2-site..
