This "Bullpup" conversion was released back in 1984 by Armament Research Corp to convert HK91 rifles into compact carbines. However it found poor sales due to ergonomic concerns.

Looks like a rather stupid concept to me, as that magazine is quite big for a grip, and the shooter might accidentally press the magazine release (item #15 in Fig.1)...

Additionally, the second hand would be needed to manipulate the firemode-selector, whereas on the original one could use the thumb of the hand on the pistolgrip.

Ergonomic concerns? I should say so. A 7.62x51 magazine is around 3 inches wide. Even a 5.56 mag is around 2 1/2 inches. You'd have to have very large hands to comfortably reach the trigger. Notice they also didn't relocate the sights? If you had the rifle to your shoulder the rear sight would be in your ear or your cheek.

Interdynamics tried the same magazine as a grip thing and failed.
