Only the first person to fire a rocket rifle can use it. If you get it off a dead enemy, you have to have Fredo (in Grumm), change the fingerprint ID for the gun, so that someone else can use it. You can get a clean gun from Sergeant Krott in Alma, if you find him before the alarm in the army base goes off. Or, if you hire Iggy in San Mona, he comes with a rocket rifle.

It's worth getting one just for the fun of having one but i found it to be a bit of a pain. It's no sniper rifle as it's pretty obvious once fired where you are, it also has a high AP requirement and cant be fired quickly in a single turn. The other problem is limited ammo supplies. I far prefer to use a lower caliber rifle with full mods as they are far easier to use and much more effective.

The other problem i found was the damage the rockets did was equal too or often less than what a sniper rifle would do under the same conditions. I simply leave mine on the ground near my front line militia sites and let the militia use them as they have unlimited ammo when they use them.

Just my opinion but i hope it helps.

Yeah I didn't find the rocket rifles to be so great either. Don't know if it's an every time thing but I got one in alma last time I played, at the training facility.

I've never come across the auto rocket rifle, but that would at least be useful when attacking meduna(the rocket rifles are the only guns(non-launcher) that can hurt tanks, and blasting the burst of 5 rockets into one should reduce it to scrap, at a lower AP cost than using an RPG, of course you can always use mortars).

The rocket rifle in Alma is always there, provided the enemy does not set off the alarm in that sector. Talk to the sergeant with a decent leadership merc, and he will give you the rifle, or just pick the lock on the locker yourself to get it. Once the alarm goes off, an explosion destroys the locker where the rocket rifle is stored.

The Queen carries an auto rocket rifle. She also has the psycho personality, so I've had her go full auto and explode Ira's head in her underground bunker.

I play a stealthy sniper game and have found the rocket rifles are good 'draws' for bad guys. If your having trouble getting close to a mortar user or elite then i sometimes drop a rocket rifle in plain sight and back off. Often times you will find the guy notices it and makes a run for it. Sometimes you may have to fire a blind shot into a tree to get his attention but they do come. If you line up your ranged fighters and lay them down just at the edge of their range you will often get an interrupt a few squares before the guy picks up the rifle. Even if your unlucky and he gets to the rifle before you can pick him off you will often find he cant hit you as he usually fires standing up and your laying down. This effectively gives you 2 turns of free hits in which to kill or seriously mess up his AP.

Another option is to put down the rifle, back off two squares and then drop a remote explosive. Let him come a running and then set off your charge. I've never had one find the explosive and it's very satisfying simply pressing a button to wreck a bad guys day.

It's not a fool proof method but it has saved the day for me a few times. The only thing to be careful of is that you dont let him get away but to be honest if he has a mortar then a rocket rifle is nothing more to fear really.

I think it's the HEAP ammo that does high damage and is armor piercing. Other than that you get a built in laser sight. I've tried them a few times but always just gone back to the G11, FAL or C7.

Is it me or does one of the Gyrojet-carbines look like an HK G11 ?
(yah ... I meant that the G11 looks like that Gyrojet-carbine)

Where a man tells of his experiences with a Gyrojet 'in the field'.

That second site 'project deathwind', reads as if they're working at a new-gyrojet.

Are you sure? Tried it a few times and it didn't do any damage. Even the explosive rockets, they did the same sound like you fire a normal gun on a tank, nothing more.

Cool, didn't know that. Thanks.

Edit: Tried it, seems pretty useless, -4, -5 damage... A waste of rockets. Better use a law/mortar and maybe a grenade or 2 to finish the job.
