Hello people. :wave:

Used to be a regular in here once upon a time.

So could you help an old veteran out?

Started playing Urban Chaos again. Played it back in 2004 and almost finished. Got bored and left it though. Now years on got interested in finally finishing it. Played it a few days ago and then went to play it again today.

However, the last saved game won't load. It gets 75% of the way then says error. Have tried with the firewall and virus software shutdown but still no luck. :compsmash:

Can anyone help, please. :bow:

Also could anyone tell me if there are any new mods come out since and which are the best?

Thanks guys.

Amost afraid to ask how far back your previous s/game is Surprised . Does it load ok ?, if so , looks like thats a plan . If not .........
As for new mods , try Wildfire 1.13 maps , RR + NIV by scorpion , and Will Gates has two mods Tracona and MFM (though they aren't for 1.13), umm , Headrocks mods to 1.13 seem to be good if your into micro management ,ahh just look about mate Very Happy , plenty to play with .

Too far back to start from there.

Unless someone can offer another solution, it looks as if my return to the game will have to be short-lived.

JAPE is a save game editor for Jagged Alliance 2. JAPE allows you to view and edit the items and attributes of your mercenaries, or any other character in the game.

JAPE works with the following versions of Jagged Alliance 2:

* US version 1.03 (Build 99.06.09)
* US version 1.04 (Build 99.08.11)
* US version 1.05r (Build 99.09.15)
* US version 1.06 (Build 99.11.12)
* US version 1.07 (Build 00.05.29)
* US version 1.12 (Build 04.12.02)
* US version 1.13-2085 (Build 08.04.27)

Other versions may work, but are untested.

Never tried this on UC but it's all i've got.

(1) Do you get a crash report? what does it say?

(2) What does the LOG say? Final entry only assuming you don't clear it out regularly.

(3) What does the on screen error message say?

I've a feeling that JAPE & UC are not fond of eachother. I'm pretty sure a UC save that has been Japed will stop working.

Jape didn't make a difference but thanks anyway.

The message I get is: ERROR loading game! In a brown box, centre of the screen.

Well, CHEAT Smile until you reach the position you were in previously.

Savegame corruption is a not a plague we have got ridden yet in JA2.

Another issue that comes to mind is the QuickFix. If your saved game has been made before we released QF, then it wont work with a patched UC. Why? Because the QF brings a new PROF.DAT (some problems were generated by the original faulty one). And JA2 won't recognise the new PROF.DAT unless you start a new game.

You can try this... not sure it will work, but for the sake of the argument, you can try. Use the orginal prof.dat (the one from the install package). Don't apply the QF. Load the savegame and see if it crashes. If works, it means your savegame preceeds QF...

In either cases, you wont be able to "fix" the savegame and play again, I am sorry to say. Reffer to previous post solution if you want...

Could just be a simple DOH! mistake like having changed the folder or the drive the game is in since you last played... dunno just a thought. I did this myself recently moving all my fallout stuff onto an external drive; rerouted the shortcuts all fine but the core of the games were still looking for things in the old drive which were of course no longer there. Serves me right for trying to rename the files so they all sat neatly together...

Shanga, the Urban Chaos program was downloaded in early 2004 and put onto disc. I used that one when I re-installed it recently. Also all the others work except my last quick save game.
