BP Tech Ops

This merit rank is to be awarded for outstanding service to the BP community over the years, in particular helping new players with good advice. This new rank comes to supplement that of veteranship, aka AIM Legend. AIM Legend will still be awarded to being an outstanding member, but we felt the need for a second non-technical badge that underlines specific efforts in providing information. In the words of our patron Fred Bearpit, they are "Santa's Little Helpers". The rank isn't 100% new though. It was just forgotten. Eisenhower used to hold it, but in the realm of Hardware Ops. We just decided to give it a wider reach.

The newest BP Tech Ops is now: cougar. Our moderators will submit new nominations so PM them if you have proposals.

PS: This badge being forum specific, won't replace any technical badge such as "team v1.13, coder, modder, etc". Those define quite well a user's role and are better suited than a generic badge. It doesn't mean coders and modders arent recognised as being "Santa's Little Helpers", it just means they have already our appreciation and thanks.

dont want this to look like a flame..but..umm..there are 3-4 others i woulda givin the badge to before them...no offence to them..but then again..i dont know if the ones i'm thinking of would be eligible due to their other rankings..but i'm thinking..Marlboro..Starwalker..and..curse me for even suggesting this..but he is a long timer who has contributed countless great(and bad ) ideas and i have seen him often helping folks..Mauser...i guess its because i been on BP sooo long and have seen so much over a long period that my opinion is based on a longer time frame..

Hi Tbird,

Marlboro is a Moderator, Starwalker has a team 1.13 Badge recognising his involvement, you have a Master Gunsmith badge, and Mauser has an Aim Legend one.

Anyone who sees those badges will realise you have experience and knowledge with regards JA.

The "Tech Op" would replace your current badge, i don't think anybody is being left out, have a read of the description again.

It's better if suggestions are made through PMs to Shanga rather than risking awkward situations, not the case here, but it could happen.

@tbird - Off_Topic is right, you cannot have two badges at the same time. That doesn't mean your contribution to the forum is less appreciated, it only means we have recognized is already.

And badges do have a small use - aka defining part of the member's role in the community. Guys like you and Starwalker or the coders carry badges specifing their skills and technical contributions. More much informative than a generic badge.

As for suggesting other members who haven't had their merits recognised yet (aka have no special badge, just the post rank one), please use PM. I am open to suggestions if they are well motivated.

It's an ongoing process anyway.

Not sure I did help destroy it either (despite broadly agreeing with your current sig) I just gave it a couple of mutant children e.g. mods. & like all mods you can take them or leave them, they're not compulsory & what's more they are free.
