You can change a lot of stuff there like skills, appearance. So i decided to do so. I changed some stuff and when entered the game nothing worked. I changed Barrys trait skill from electronics to night op and shirt colour then pressed save and quit. Nothing changed. What am i doing wrong?

The profedit still handles character data other than items, but it can only read and write the file Prof.dat, the game uses various files for the different difficulties, etc.
You need to change the \data\binarydata\prof.dat filename to Prof__.dat.
E.g. rename to Prof_Expert_TonsOfGuns.dat if that's the style of game you're playing.
EDIT: Best procedure to follow is:
-rename prof.dat to prof.bak
-rename Prof_file_difficultybeingused.dat to prof.dat
-edit the file
-rename prof.dat to Prof_file_difficultybeingused.dat
-rename prof.bak to prof.dat
There is a fair bit of information in the forums regarding this if you want more information.

I know, but I didn't have the energy nor the desire to start messing with a release at the time. It's not a toy (you can cause a lot of damage with it) and it's based on an outdated version of the code. In other words, it's very basic work to be examined by coders. At least that's how I see it.
