Trying to do a bit of old school modding and ran headlong into a pretty hard brick wall. I can't use Wedit on a 64bit OS. Seeing as I only have 64bit OS's on this computer it makes things a little hard and I haven't got into the VMWare scene.

Question is, does anyone know of a 64bit friendly version flying about? If not why not Wink

HAHA, lol. Looks like I'll have to use another computer just for generating a MyWeapons.txt!

And it's for your mod Will!

HAHA, I dunno I post a serious question and get insults for having Win 7 x64 for a game that's over 10 years old!

Looks like I'll have to use one of my lesser PC's to get this sorted.

Have you tried recompiling for 32 or 64 bit?

LOL that's assuming I have the source. Unfortunately I was left with ketchup not the code so I can't compile a different version. Need W4st, the original author, to do that.

omg, how did you manage to get hold of a version that doesn't include the source code?
How about this one: http://kermi.kapsi.fi/ja2/editors/WEDIT.rar

OOOOHHHHH It does have the source code....
I guess foot in mouth here!

Now the next problem is compiling it for x64! I haven't compiled anything in my life code wise (web pages don't count!). Any ideas?

I'll try and compile it later tonight. There's a mingw for 64/32 bit windows but I've never tried it out. If everything compiles cleanly I'll send the .exe to you and you can test to see if it works properly. Smile

I don't have two bits, why should my computer have 64? :blah:

You'd be surprised how far a few pennies will go now. When I got my machine last year I basically got clubbed over the head and robbed blind compared to what I can get now for the same money. It doesn't even correlate with the purchasing power or anything tbh. Ah well its a game where you have to jump in at some point and I jumped a little early!

I posted a 64 bit compatible binary in the Vanilla Modding Forum:

Thanks for test-driving it Kaerar!

Would you mind if I uploaded the file with the batch files and other paraphernalia that originally came with it?

I'll add them and reupload the 7z. I should have done all of that anyway...

edit: Adding the source code and the original docs (in pdf) as well.

Patch.exe doesn't work for the same reason, but that also has the source there so should be a simple fix for ya Wink

The SLF extractor works fine though Very Happy

I'll send you a test build for ja2patch.exe by tomorrow, sir! Smile

(It's done! PM sent.)

Good thing SLF works, there's no source code included.

Do Dragon Unpacker and similar SLF unpacking utilities run on 64 bit windows?

I suspect that they will. The problem with ja2wedit and the patch is that they use code injection. Anything using code injection is unlikely to work for you unless recompiled.
