Okay after reading Patscuo's guide on JA2, i went down to confront the crepitus that had infested my mines for days,i fully equipped all of my mercs with gas masks and mostly with HP rounds and mules with loads of jars, the younger crepitus's ranged gas attack were useless against the gas masks' protection, but at the second last lair, the crepitus adults were older ones and i noticed that the gas that had collected in an area was poisonous to my mercenaries. Is this a glitch or does the older crepituss' gas attack is too much for the gas masks to handle?

I only faught crepitus once or twice, I am not a fan of walking my mercs through endless tunnels, but that's just my opinion.

I know that mustard gas will slowly decrease the percentage of your gas masks and it feels like there is a chance every round that if you are not 100% on your gas mask, you may get affected by the gas.

Maybe this is what is happening to your old crepitus? Did you check your gas masks, are they still at 100% or lower? If lower, then this is what is happening to you.

If you get "hurt" at 100% gas mask, then I could swear that happened to me once with non crepitus gas. I had Scope stand in a (I believe tear gas) cloud for several rounds, all of a sudden she choked and lost some blue bar for apparently no reason, but to be honest I don't know for sure if her gas mask was at 100%.

Apparently, there is a random chance that your gas mask will fail every turn you stay within the cloud. IIRC, this chance is (101-Current%OfGasMask), so even with fully repaired mask, you get that odd 1% that the gas will get through.

Which kinda makes sense. The gas mask is not meant to make you impervious to gas. All it's supposed to do is let you get you a$$ out of the stinkin' cloud before it gets ya. Would be pretty unrealistic otherwise, IMHO.

only 100% gas mask gives you full protection. Used masks are not useful anymore

If you leave items on the ground, militia will not pick them up (except loaded guns when being attacked).
Never tried giving a militiaman a gas mask. I heard they use the equipment you give them in tactical, but next time you load the sector the equipment gets reset. So there's no point giving items to militia really.

Guys, wait a sec... you mean they actually do pick up items?
Never had this in my games. Then again, I never left anything in the open, always putting it in some sort of container (say, a crate or a metal cabinet).
Once I had militia pick up a gun I accidentally left loaded in the box, but nothing else. No vests, helmets (I had dozens of both after a few firefights) or ammo vanished.

They never seem to touch anything if my mercs are not in the sector. I can leave all the loot in the boxes and it just sits there. Guess my militia is a bit more "subordinate" Smile Must be that high Leadership Smile

Not funny when they steal an expensive and fully equipped rifle a merc dropped due to a vacuum grenade though.

@systemfehler: That's especially funny! Very Happy I lost an M21 EBR with a Rifle Lam Flashlight this way. After the fight I was standing in front of the militia for a minute hovering my mouse pointer over him... Looking at what used to be my tricked out M21... used to be...

Actually i had some moments that are pissing as some times, the militia picks up good items of the ground, this occurs rarely to me, but it still is annoying

No problem for me, guys. I have militia set to drop all items on death (hey, I paid for their training to begin with, so I should get to keep their stuff!) and never go hostile on me even if I shoot one (what about collateral damage when suppressing enemies?).

Guess what happens when a tardy militiaman grabs what he should not dare touch...

BLAM! BLAM!

Oh, I forgot to add: I bumped the base price of one militia squad to $1000. And since I'm playing HAM 3.6, I'm paying upkeep as well. Making them leave their stuff seems fair to me on these terms.

guys why are you training militia for if you complain about them. Nice if they pick weapons of dead enemies like that they are stronger or well equiped

Who complains? I just tweak them until they work OK for me. If they don't, they get shot dead and replaced.

Re picking items up by militia - this has been talked about several times around the forum - their equipment gets reset every time you reload the sector, so your picked-up weapon is lost.
