So collected 3 R&S and BX's

My forces mainly use C7A2's (I can't help it I'm Canadian), Minimi (AKA C9) and random sniper rifles.

Should I bother on any of these weapons? They are currently decked out with Rifle LAM/flashlights, Grippod, Battle scope and reflex sights on the C7's and whatever the Minimi's can handle.

I'm not lacking in funds so I've moved to using Match ammo on everything except the LMG's (Tracers look too cool not to use).

I'm wondering if giving up one of those attachments would benefit enough?

Thoughts? I tempted to try the dual P90's... in which case I'd stick R&S and Barrel extender on those... if I go that way?

Thanks

PS 1.13 made JA2 1000X better especially with the new inventory... just wow lot's a hard work put into this mod/patch/re-birth!

I'd use the rod and spring, rifle LAM/flashlight, ACOG/reflex, and foregrip on the C7. Thats one fast killer Canadian. The grippod sounds cool but how often do you go prone with an assault rifle. You sacrifice to much mobility. You could substitute the AR supressor for the foregrip to trade some burst stability for a little stealth.

Hi Kilo69, Personally I use the gun barrel extenders on pistols, machine pistols, SMGs, that kind of stuff, weapons which allow a small scope at most to get a little more range in. However the small scope really limits the weapon to 16-20 tiles range usefulness, after that it will be tough to get 99% to hit.

Plus the gun barrel extender doesn't allow for a silencer which is a big drawback, when I am close, I like to be quiet for safety reasons. With pistols you are probably better off using AET ammo with a suppressor.

The gun barrel extender may work on a short range AR like a commando, but these typically allow match ammo which is armor piercing as well (not the case with pistol ammo), so you get 12 tiles additional range without having to use an attachment slot.

The rod & spring significantly speeds up burst and auto fire, so any AR, LMG, MG will benefit from it. The below post is an exact copy from another post I did yesterday here, but it may be useful for you as well.

My first priority is a rod & spring and a reflex sight (or something else which reduces single shot cost depending on the mod you are playing).

Second priority is the strongest / longest range laser your weapon system takes as an attachment. This allows you to "make more bullets hit" when not aiming (in burst or auto fire). You will need to use burst / auto when you need to terminate more enemies in the short to medium range e.g. when you are being ambushed and each one of your mercs needs to eliminate 2-3 enemies a round.

Third priority is typically something to improve your chances to hit (CTH) during burst or auto fire such as a foregrip (tracer ammo in HAM, bipods in AIM etc.) Alternatively you may want to reduce APs to ready the weapon, through a folding or retractable stock, as this gives your more shots "in the first round of combat", which comes also in play when "hunting" down hiding or wounded enemies. (Also in HAM you may spend half of your ready APs for your first aim click, so reducing ready APs is always a good idea here.)

My last priority is to use the best scope the weapon can support, as this indirectly saves APs because you can "reach out and touch" enemies further away (or behind cover) if the situation demands it, without having to switch weapon systems and thus having to pay ready APs for the new gun, and possibly having to pay ready APs again when switching back to your old gun.

the r&s go to g11s, any lmg from hk (depends on your favourite caliber or, if you intent to 'harvest' crepitus, to the ares shrike (glaser ammo - trigger group) - i use to put the extender on shot guns but with the chokes (which i haven't tested yet) i might simply store them

I mis read the XML... thought two handed meant you could hold two.... then i clued in that meant you needed both hands to hold it.

Still I might try slapping the r&s in the C7's and see how that goes. I'll hold on to the barrel extender for smg/mp/pistols.

By the way Kilo69, feel free to use the tables on my wiki, there are some which show which weapon can take which attachment or which weapons can use SAP or AET ammo.

The barrel extenders aren't as critical as what you choose for them because you can rather easily remove them by just firing bursts until they fall off the weapon. Then stick it on something else and repair it back up.

With the reflex sights in 1.13 the rod & spring is better used in heavy machine guns usually.

[Edit/Update]

I fixed up a SCAR-H SV (the 7.62 sniper variant) with a rod&spring, acog-4x combo, trigger group, and rifle LAM-Flashlight combo. Its a seriously evil tool in the hands of my psycho autoweapons sniper IMP merc. Stats are AP: (11) 23/24/29 !!!
