There are two intriguing civ groups (factions) in Map Editor I can choose: beggars and couple 1.
I checked proedit, no one seems to belong to these groups.

Anyone has some ideas about it?

some drassen npc's belong to the beggars faction. You can distinguish them from normal npc's because they use different lines when talking to them. there's a corresponding .edt file for them, too. Haven't come across couple 1 though. May be a placeholder/ unused/ unfinished faction.

Thanks scorpion.
After seeing that Kulbas aren't couple 1, I thought about Riccis too. But apparently they are just nones.

There are 4 or 5 "Unused" civ groups, assigned to few RPCs. E.g. Devin is Unused 16. Going to try one thing:
I wonder if I would to create some ordinary lad near Devin with the same group, then check it as "town doesn't care", and shoot him before Devin's eyes. Will he go crazy about me? Wink

yes he will Smile
plus, your mercs will likely lose morale. Be careful which faction to make "enemies" because some factions cause this loss of morale if you kill them, breaking immersion if you use many of them. If you just give a few faction bodyguards to named npc's, it's not an issue. But if you fill a sector with faction npc's, the morale thing becomes an issue.
Btw, the "warden" faction is also interesting. Not sure who belongs to this faction in the vanilla game... IIRC, warden has no friends Smile

Seems that beggars respond to ownership, great.

Is there any particular way how to identify which .edt file corresponds to which group? Because edt files do not correspond in numerical order as they are listed in proedit.

e.g. there are 40 CIVxx.EDT files, and I got lucky to identify beggars, as it was the first one.

i wish i knew. what you can try is to see if the civ.edt's are in the same order as factions are in proedit. But i doubt it. If someone could make a list there, that'd probably help us Smile

@sincleanser: yes, IIRC the button where to select the civ group is to the right, where the relative attributes and stuff are (IIRC that is. Haven't used civ groups lately)

I am interested, and here's the list.

civ00.edt - Beggars speech.
civ01.edt - Beggars' children speech. "Have a dollar, army?"
civ02.edt - Civilians complaining about bugs.
civ03.edt - Children complaining about bugs.
civ04.edt - Civilians happy after bugs are dead.
civ05.edt - Children happy after bugs are dead.
civ06.edt - Civilians complaining about mercs presence in Arulco.
civ07.edt - Children complaining about mercs presence in Arulco.
civ08.edt - Civilians happy about mercs presence in Arulco.
civ09.edt - Children happy about mercs presence in Arulco.
civ10.edt - Some pessimistic civ group, talking about better days. Might be rebels.
civ11.edt - Pessimistic children, I presume of the same group(rebels) as above. "This place sucks"
civ12.edt - Civilians or civ group praising our mercs.
civ13.edt - Euphoric children(civilian or of the same group as above).
civ14.edt - Civilians dissappointed with us(maybe because we lost town to army before), but optimistic about future.
civ15.edt - Hopeful children, so hopeful.
civ16.edt - Hicks friendly.
civ17.edt - Hicks hostile. "HeeHaw!"
civ18.edt - Kingpin goons friendly.
civ19.edt - Kingpin goons hostile.
civ20.edt - Members of rebel group speak.
civ21.edt - Children of rebels. "You play with us, soldier?"
civ22.edt - Green militia speech.
civ23.edt - Light blue militia speech.
civ24.edt - Dark blue militia speech. "It feels good to get hands dirty"
civ25.edt - Disappointed San Mona citizens, drunks, fighters?
civ26.edt - Seems like cries of betrayal, don't know for which group they belong."God will judge you for this", "My friends will deal with you"
civ27.edt - Exclamations of some kind of administrator of town. Unseen for my eyes.
civ28.edt - Enemy soldier taunts.
civ29.edt - Elite soldier taunts. I wonder if they ever show up?
civ30.edt - Civilians cry in the middle of fighting, I guess. "Bullets! Everywhere bullets."
civ31.edt - Scared children in a situation as above.
civ32.edt - Only two lines: "I cannot believe you guys did this to me!" "Just go away!" I have seen this, but cannot identify it. Anyone?
civ33.edt - Factory children enslaved.
civ34.edt - Factory children free.
civ35.edt - Miners not yet working for us.
civ36.edt - Miners working for us.
civ37.edt - Surrender taunts.
civ38.edt - Hicks caught you tresspassing in night. One line only.
civ39.edt - Civilian speech after you kill Deidranna, but no the monsters?

In general I'd say these civ group lines show fine writing skills.

indeed. the writing is top notch.

also thanks very much forthis useful list Smile

i hope you don't mind me nitpicking: civ35.edt are miners not yet working for us, Civ. 36 are miners working for us. The remark that is specific for Matt is triggered by Miners.npc only when we're in Alma Mine and have not yet talked to the head miner... in theory that is. I tried to test it but it failed. But i skipped large parts of the game by using cheats, maybe it works if all "usual" steps are being undertaken (the deliver letter/ omerta liberated/ food quests may in the realm of civs have big influence)

these .edt files and some of the sectorspecific .edt and .npc seem to depend vastly on tons of factors and testing seems sometimes really an ordeal Sad

especially having to do the deliver letetr stuff each time is idiotic. I made myself a fast fatima patch for this now so i can speed up this crap next time i'll have to go through :luckystrike:

Thanks, I edited last post for correction. If anyone recognises edt32, drop a line here, I'll re-edit again.

Scorpion, have you ever encountered town administrator? (civ27)

Try to talking to admins (yellow shirts, not the whacky people reordering message boards so you can't locate nothing no more)
yes, they're hostile (the yellow shirts, i mean), but there might be an option to use forced speech on them even in combat. Maybe it's them? i don't know
