Hi HLTV, Don't know BBB mod, but DOM has the same functionality (I assume this is the case from your description of BBB), and allegedly the Germans intend to give us their source code when DOM is finished.
The most interesting feature (around auto fire) in DOM is that the soldier stops (!) shooting once the target is dead, meaning you can put 20 AP into auto but if you kill the target with the first shot, you don't waste APs, you get them credited back.
The second most interesting thing is that DOM allows to carry over auto fire to another target after the first target has been eliminated, this works just like targeting the next target manually, but the in game effect is truly awesome e.g. 20 AP auto fire "mows" down three unarmored enemies who all go into their death animation and sound effects simultaneously.
The third most important feature is aimed burst / auto, although I found that with the above two features it makes more sense to use guns without scopes, which means that aiming is not as important as it is in 1.13. You get an occasionally boost if there is some grass and your gun can compensate for the cover penalty, which rarely happens.
What I don't like about the DOM implementation of the aimed auto / burst is that you only pay for aiming once. I never really thought much about this (even now), but I always thought you would pay the aim clicks *for each shot*?
For example you do a 5 round auto with the Ares M4 Shrike with no aiming and pay 15 AP incl. ready cost. If you use two aim clicks, each shot would cost two additional APs when using aimed auto fire (I guess this is 25 AP system no HAM).

interesting, but i believe otherwise
I was a machinegunner and i shot various automatic weapons when i was in the military
and i can say shooters are unlikely to stop right when your enemy's dead----first it's hard to determine if they're hit or killed, especially at greater distance, which is like impossible to tell, the gunner only cease fire when the observer says so, other situations, when enemy stops shooting back or cannot be seen; secondly the gunner will be shooting short and long bursts, the best he can do is not adding another burst if he believes the enemy drops dead.
but the idea is still very interesting, imho it should be tuned down to stop only after a certain amount, to "give-in" for gameplay purposes.
as for aim burst, most shooter would aim first then shoot a short burst, during the burst they would stablize the weapon instead of keep aiming (too little time for aiming); when the short burst stops they would aim again (called follow-up) for the next burst.
