i intend to completly rework the enemy gun choice, (and other xml after this one) of the dbb instrument of violence item mod.
i made some test and in fact have lots of question about JA2 determine how enemy choose gun from this xml file:

type of game:

-expert difficulty
-slow progresse for enemy item choice desactivate
-drop all (to see what item enemies have when i shoot or grenade them)
-can't change any of the progresse factor in the ini file

some things arrive during omerta just after arrival and win the first combat

-one red shirt have a spaz 12 shotgun, which is in the line of 20 progresse game ???? or the game is 0 progresse
-all ,expect 1, my enemy have remington m870, but for i just made 3 chance of 39 item to have this gun in the first line (progresse 0) ?????

where is the factor influence enemy gun choice?

- difficulty?

(novice and experienced doesn't made any modification, expert give a 10 progresse modification, insane a 20 progrsse modification ? i don't know)

- type of enemy ?

(novice: yellow shirt have no modification ? , veteran: red shirt have a 10 progress modification and choose gun from the line after the one should be used for the progresse level of the game ?, and elite : black enemi have a 20 progresse modification and choose gun from the second line after the one should be used for the progresse level of the game?)

- coolness ?
(the more you are near a next progresse level, the more the enemy can choose better coolness level?)

i have made the reflexion which is in parenthesis but i prefer to ask here how the code work to give an enemy a gun?

and if someone have the real code i could try to read it

The coolness relates to availability at Bobby Rays. It doesn't affect enemy weapon choices. The closer you get to P3 does affect that though. Plus Elites get to choose from 1-2 tables higher than the Red Shirt level. If on Insane expect to see Coolness 10 weapons by Cambria Mine/SAM.

hum some map emplacement determine the coolness level of the weapon carrying by enemis, and in fact a night mission to pick up the weapon of the solo guard in patrol give awesome weapons without great difficulties Sad Sad (with or without drop all, dart gun is easy to use, just need two merc, one with silenced and subsonic smg to reduce armor, and use the dart gun after that)

and in fact if a want to made a more balanced game i need to rework ini file to made enemis of experienced level better, with less elite or only elite game (because carrying to powerfull weapon, to easy to shoot yellow and red shirt after take some elite equipement) and a small AP bonus and made deidranna choose like expert level difficulties


and a big rework of coolness level of scope (have acog (4x), combat(7X) 2 sniper scope (10X) from M24 and i just finish to defend drassen ....) and some powerfull item (nvg 2 and 3)


-- hum how does slow progresse item choice work with Sam site and cambria? it have some effect or no one ?
- and slow progress item choice reduce the stuff carrying by elite enemis or not? (elite have more stuff than red and yellow shirt)

("Slow Progress" puts less emphasis on an enemy's level to determine their equipment. Therefore, Blackshirts,
; Redshirts and Yellowshirts will normally hold about the same level of weaponry. )


and a final question for this post
-IA know how to use binnocular?

-enemis weapon choice is use to determine militia weapon or not?

Have you already read Headrocks 'How does it work' on this topic?

Binoculars should work by just placing them in a mercs mainhand, you shouldn't have to do anything else.

hum yep good thread, easy to catch.

some new question:


-how many item the three type of enemy can have? it's modifiable?

-how they choose item ? their is an order or just a dice roll between the categories and after a new dice roll between the different item which coolness < or = to progress ?

-how work low quality face and high quality face ? (low for only yellow shirt enemis? or depend of the game progress, or the two previous variable ? )

-it's possible to made obligatory equipement to enemis (like nvg?)


edit: don't know why, but enemis a encounter in omerta only use remington M870, all other modification i made in the other xml look great and work (choose the good armor and good helmet, have the item of little coolness level ect), weapon choice seems to have a little bug they can choose between 39 item and only use one wtf :confused: Mad
