Hi to everyone here. I'm sorta new, just got started playing a couple months ago and I've been messing around with the XML editor and some of the files. I was wondering, would it be possible to replace the female IMPs with males? I managed to replace the portraits and voices, but when I use Proedit to replace the bodytype, the game tells me I've reached the limit for male IMPs after making 3. If anyone can offer me some advice, I'd be grateful.

P.S. Sorry if my question has been asked before, I couldn't go search the forums in detail, I'm paying for my 'net by the minute. And I need the info for a small supeficial mod i'm planning, i'm just still getting used to the game.

some guys wanted an all male squad or - in tbird's case - their balls not cut off

[JA2 Laptop Settings]

; The maximum number of I.M.P. (B.S.E.) characters, the player can have (Range: 0 - 6).
MAX_IMP_CHARACTERS = [color:#3333FF]7 [color:#CC33CC]if you don't raise it, you won't get more than 5 males

;******************************************************************************************************************************
; The following allow you to change how many and which slots from prof.dat are available for
; male and female IMPs. The "usual" slots are 51,52,53 for males and 54,55,56 for females. Other
; slots will work only if they have a blank full name in prof.dat. Even slots without full IMP voice
; sets will work although the IMPs will be silent a lot of the time.
;
; There should be one IMP_[FE]MALE_X for each slot. The total number is still limited by
; MAX_IMP_CHARACTERS above. You can reduce the numbers but there should always be at least one
; male and one female slot available.
;
; If there are any errors in the following then the default values (3 males slots 51-53 and 3 females
; slots 54-56) will be used instead.
;******************************************************************************************************************************
IMP_MALE_CHARACTER_COUNT = [color:#3333FF]6
IMP_FEMALE_CHARACTER_COUNT = [color:#3333FF]1

IMP_MALE_1 = 51
IMP_MALE_2 = 52
IMP_MALE_3 = 53
[color:#3333FF]IMP_MALE_4 = 54
IMP_MALE_5 = 55
IMP_MALE_6 = 56

; The following are empty in standard JA2 1.13 but do not have full voice sets.
;IMP_MALE_4 = 54
;IMP_MALE_5 = 65
;IMP_MALE_6 = 71
;IMP_MALE_7 = 163
;IMP_MALE_8 = 164

IMP_FEMALE_1 = [color:#3333FF]164
[color:#3333FF]:IMP_FEMALE_2 = 55
[color:#3333FF]:IMP_FEMALE_3 = 56

[color:#3333FF]altered /[color:#CC33CC]explanation

someone reported that using the free slots caused problems - this method gives you a fully operational all-male-squad (may be the other guy did not use imp.npc-files for his new ones
that means you're still missing three sets of soundfiles. one may be taken from ub (057). maybe tbird shares his files.

edith:

4th imp (ub-057) for your renaming issues i recommend bulk rename utility

if you use bru
1. never drag and drop
2. rename 057_ to ###_ , other wise you'll get a mess

Thanks so very much, I owe you one. Getting this info has been on my mind this whole last week. I was wondering if you could point me to the thread where you posted that info? I can't seem to find it. Thanks again.
