But since its Arulco, I'm just PeTeTe. Lets get to the point.
Foreword
I think it was 2003 and I was looking for something to play and stumbled upon JA2, it was very cool but for some reason I didn't continue it. Then got the game again in 2006, stopped playing again for some reason. A month ago remmebered this game existed and got it yet again and this time I intend to finish it.
The Player
I consider myself a hardcore gamer, in my book that means absolutely no cheating, no reloading because someone died or got shot too bad, no reading of a walktrough, pretty much figure everything out by myself.
The Game
I wanted to do it in insane but, thats too crazy even for me. So im playing on, expert, I think thats below insane. Realistic setting and Bobby Ray whoever he is has normal selection. IM playing with tons of guns and enemies drop their panties when they die with poop included. What else? Save anytime, I intend to record the liberation of Arulco, thats why it isnt on Ironman. I altered the starting cash, I started with 35k. Im playing 1.13 with HAM.
The Scenario.
I got 4 IMPs, 2 Night Ops, 1 camouflage, 1 Teaching, 1 Sniper, 2 Auto Weapons. Then I hired Grizzly, Grunty, Igor and Bull. SO I landed cleared Omerta, met the rebels, got Ira, took the airport at drassen, trained militia, took the middle and inmedietly took the mine, I think it was day 2 by then.
They were too much for me too count, I retreated and let them have it. I wasn't going to fight them with 9 marcs, who are under equiped compared to the enemy. Now they control the mined and are camped left and right around it.
I trained some Militia with my remaining $, so I got 17 greens at the airport and I got 14 greens, 3 regulars and 3 veteran at C13.
The Point
Dude, this is truly epic, I can almost feel like there's a general leading the troops against my insurgency.
I collected on the mine the next day and then this huge force showed up that afternoon they camped south, east and west of Drassen Mine. At the time I had 4 green militia, 3 regular and 3 veteran. I stupidly tried defending it, we all died.
The Second time I tried that half died half got captured, I had one guy training militia and he was the only one left, they took C13 after a horribly one sided battle and then lost once at the airpot before they finally took it.
So I changed my tactic, after the mine was mine, I retreated and let em have it after collecting on it. I trained some Militia with my remaining $, so I got 17 greens at the airport and I got 14 greens, 3 regulars and 3 veteran at C13. For some reason they arent attacking now, the contracts on my other mercs ended and they still havent attacked. I then realized I shouldnt waith for their attack. So I tried again.
This time I'm trying to harras em, go in kil a few go out, intercept patrols for weapons and ammo. Now that my mercs are more decently armed I attacked with my militia, and there come them reinfrocments.
That's we're it gets ugly, I mean we give them hell, but I can see the diference in equipment. I got mosinnagant, they got real sniper rifles, They got M4's I got nothing that big, they got M16, I got Sterling SMGs and Type 85s. I tired attacking during the day, at night, at dusk, a dawn, after lunch. These guys are just too though, I fight against like. 80 enemies, some 40+ Black Shirts, 10-20 reds, SOme guys with brown chemical suits, guys with camo. I kill a whole lot, like 30 but by then my militia is like decimated and lost 1 or 2 merc. The tide of the battle ultimely tunrs in their favor.
So...
Im Stuck. Anybody got two cents to add to this?

I would advice you to take a smaller town before securing Drassen, if you think about it tactically it is an airport city so you know it will be a high priority for the government to retake so you need some resources to be able to secure it. Chitzena is also further away from the Armys military bases (if we take such things into account).
Gamewise you will then receive a steady income when you secure the Chitzena mine. And you also have to option to secure funds in San Mona and purchase/sell weapons from the gun dealer there. The only logical downside is that the rebels will be without the food from Drassen that they need for a longer while. (I still normally take Drassen within about a week and a revolution takes time btw).
As soon as you secure the airport you have more funds since youve had Chitzena for a while (and the stolen money from San Mona) so you can express order some grade A firearms.

Well my friends, I did it...
I did notice that contracting so many mercs at the begining was a wast, my 4 IMP's would have been enough to take drassen airport and from then on I could probably train militia and capture the whole town. But I didn't want to restart just yet, I gave it another try...
I had the airport and the other sector and they had the mine and had camped south east and west from the mine. So I went west at night with some molotov's and all my mercs and burned the shit out of them. Picked up some really cool weapon's micro galil's AK's and M4's.
With my brand new equipment I then attackedthem at the swamp, also at night, that turned really ugly so I pulled out, then I healed everyone and attacked the mine next day, it was a though battle lost a lot of militia but we took it.
However one of my IMP's got hit in the shoulder and lost lots of dexterity, but he's not that bad, he's been in recovery and training so he'll be what he once was again soon.
I've never gotten this far in the game so I'm going to take that advice and take chitzena next. So wish me luck yall!

Hi PeTeTe809, Welcome to the board!!
Wait, what? Molotovs? But of course, with mods that support spreading fire the game will be easier. Fire is better than gas as there is no countermeasuer (gasmask) that I know of *and* it doesn't damage equipment! Fire is awesome!! Well, until someone decides that it is too much and makes fire damage equipment (which is hopefully soon).
Hey PeTeTe809, Try playing with *no* IMPs, hehe, and let me know how that is going. It is possible, I am currently playing Renegade Republic (also has fire) with no IMPs and no BR, it is actually a lot of fun!
