This has to be the song of the day for me, it's a great piece from an otherwise pretty brutal and chatoic band. Enjoy! ^_^

I agree with you Mauser

In war there can be no honor or awards of any kind. How can we honor a man who kills for another man's gain and in doing so kicks down his gain?

Post a video of kids singing songs to their parents, that is real honor.

Soldiers do not have much choice of what they are order to do. But mercenaries can do what they want. The mid east wars are not honorable. But, our soldiers do risk and scarify their life for those wars. The shame is for those created wars. Now, it is another thing to ask should we allow our soldiers disobey orders just because the war is not honorable. Is there a good war? Yes, the big one is 1776 and ww2.

after we had lost our last war the victores not only forced us to allow our military to refuse orders, no - there are cases where it's their duty to do so. i'm talking about those victors who still operate their military after the rules of direct obidiance (excatly what we had to disband when founding the bundeswehr - and nobody regrets that) given to them by a prussian general named von steuben and made them win that war back in 1776.

strange, to say the least

Just because a word or a concept becomes arcane doesn't mean it no longer exists. Blood, honour, duty, & sacrifice are all out of fashion right now but I still hold them as sacred. The units one measures such things in have become smaller & more personal maybe. I'd sacrifice myself for my children and some of my friends. I'd only do it for my country as a whole if we were under direct invasive attack. Music to go with this thought: Sibelious: Finlandia.

you do know that they used that kind of music for the wochenschau and unternehmen barbarossa played a major role in said wochenschau - they also used edvard grieg's music. his name is similarily pronounced to the german word krieg (=war).

No snoopy, no woodstock; just a canuck rfc pilot*. But if we're talking 60's era music has to be:-

Monkees: take a giant step outside your mind.

* or ozzie flak man as has turned out to be far more likely but less glamerous history. Thanks to Logistic 4 that.

I'm really out of the loop here. I dig Sibelius though. One of my favorites in fact.

And my kids really like the Royal Guardsman's Snoopy vs. The Red Baron. They requested this over and over the whole month of December. It was really cool watching them enjoy something I could also relate to.

Green Day's cover on John Lennon's Working Class Hero, and you know what...I actually like it better than the original, eventhough; Green Day is terrible in my opinion. John's is more conversational and more understandable. Green Day's provokes more emotion and hits harder.

The theme song for revolution

You be the judge.

I like it.

Lennon had a lot to teach. He was thrust into the mass media and public spotlight because of his Beatles pop stuff. He then used that spotlight to his advantage and got himself killed in the process leaving a beautiful loving family behind. Also teaching rulers how to keep uprisings down in the process.

Distant Relatives
Africa Must Wake Up (featuring K'naan)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSHbwiayotc[/video]

[Intro: Jr. Gong]
Morning to you man
Morning to you love
Hey, I say I say

[Chorus 2x]
Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob
For what tomorrow may bring
May a better day come
Yesterday we were Kings
Can you tell me young ones
Who are we today

[Nas: Verse 1]
The black oasis
Ancient Africa the sacred
Awaken the sleeping giant
Science, Art is your creation
I dreamt that we could visit Old Kemet
Your history is too complex and ridig
For some western critics
They want the whole subject diminished
But Africa's the origin of all the world's religions
We praised bridges that carried us over
The battle front of Sudanic soldiers
The task put before us

[Chorus 2x]

[Nas: Verse 2]
Who are we today?
The slums,deceases, AIDS
We need all that to fade
We cannot be afraid
So who are we today?
We are the morning after
The make shift youth
The slave ship captured
Our Diaspora, is the final chapter
The ancetral lineage built pyramids
Americas first immigrant
The Kings sons and daughters from Nile waters
The first architect, the first philosophers, astronomers
The first prophets and doctors was

[Bridge: Jr.Gong]
Now can we all pray
Each in his own way
Teaching and Learning
And we can work it out
We'll have a warm bed
We'll have some warm bread
And shelter from the storm dread
And we can work it out
Mother Nature feeds all
In famine and drought
Tell those selfish in ways
Not to share us out
What's a tree without root
Lion without tooth
A lie without truth
you hear me out

[Chorus]
Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob
For what tomorrow may bring
May a better day come
Yesterday we were Kings
Can you tell me young ones
Who are we today
Ye lord
Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob
For what tomorrow may bring
May some more love come
Yesterday we were Kings
I'll tell you young blood
This world is yours today

[K'naan]

[translation]
Oh ye people restless in the refusal of peace
and when a man chooses religion, aren't you the one's to kill him?
and when a country is built, aren't you the one's to tear it down?
and when one attempts to tell the truth, aren't you the one's to cut him down?

[Nas - talking]
We want to thank y'all, everybody out there
This is Nas, Damian Marley
Distant Relatives..
We're all distant relatives, no matter where you from, where you live
How near or far...
Africa, China, Japan, Afghanistan, Israel...
We're all fam, we're all distant relatives
So that's why we came together -- one of the reasons
Why myself and Damian came together,
'Cause we all come from one place, and that's Africa
That's right, you too. And you.
The whole world!
We're all family, we're just spread out all over the place
So to all my distant relatives, let's take it back home!

[Chorus]
I said
Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob
For what tomorrow may bring
May a better day come
Yesterday we were Kings
Can you tell me young ones
Who are we today
Ye lord
Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob
For what tomorrow may bring
