hello all,

recently been playing JA2 wildfire and got bored so decided to do the one stop install of the UC mod, finally after getting everything working I am in the very first sector and as soon as Carmen is about to give me something it just goes to the stopwatch and sits there and my guess is freezes (i've left it for 10 mins) maybe I am missing a patch or something that fixes this but when I tried the search function couldn't find anything relevant.

he wants to give you a laptop but can't because you have a dirty install or a faulty install. where did you d-load your version of UC and what version of JA2 are you dropping it over?

that's the forum link where i downloaded it. maybe my original ja2 is faulty =/ i installed it and when i tried to load it up just now i get the message "The procedure entry point _AIL_set_3D_sample_distances@12 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll"

thanks for the welcome, played the very original as a teenager and don't have any new games so figured i'd finally try and beat these Razz

Ok so sounds like your D-L was clean from reputable source. UC works best dropped over JA2 Eng 1.07 I think. You are hitting the UC exe to begin yes? We must get it running for you as UC is an all time classic. Once you're running with it I have some additional tweaks for UC you may enjoy. After that check out the now many mods. 1.13 obviously (and there are mods on top of that), Vengeance, RR, NOPS, Didi Lives; oh and some weird junk called MFM. Plus there's a shed load of UB mods well worth a play or two. If you can cope with the language differences I heartilly recommend all of the East Bloc mods for JA2 & UB. B2B+ has some of the most beautiful tileset work I've ever seen.

HAHA! Kinda of what I want, trying to stray away from the world of warcraft and find something else to do with my time! I am clicking the UC in my JA2 folder and like I said everything works perfectly normal, ridiculous long intro to the point where I used a cheat to kill all the enemies so I could get playing, the militia have pretty bad aim Razz

, and when I go to talk to Carmen he goes into the building, presumably to get the laptop and then walks back to my mercs and then the I get the clock icon and it just sits there and like hangs the game or something. Like I said though for some reason I get that error I mentioned when opening regular JA2 (which I only installed just to play UC) and wildfire works fine! I might try to download that 1.13 if it brings something new to the game at least map wise and some of the others you mentioned.

Bump / New info

so i did a clean install of JA2, started it up and it works fine, but now I download the single click installer the same link I provided earlier, follow the instructions and extract but now as soon as I double click the JA2 UC file, I get the error message "Cannot init FONT file FONTS\LARGEFONT1.sti" still corrupted or what? I don't think I got this message the first time but i'm not a 100% sure.

hey dude i am playing UC and mine was freezing as i went to subway,

here is how it works for me

i do fresh JA2 1.03.. then patch to 1.07 then drop UC, run it from ja2_uc i dont know who carmen is though lol? i went to get my stuff at claim ticket then subway to kick ass, justplay it that way i guess?
