What does code say about a benefit of walking during a combat?
Is it completely useless or is there actually some hidden bonus when you walk? Walking costs more AP than running and while I understand that walking is somehow more stealthy, are there any others advantages of walking in a combat?
I hope I am clear enough and you will understand my point. Sorry for my English.
Thank you in advance and have a good time!

Actually, walking is the most energy-efficient movement mode (you cover the longest distance and lose the least breath), and a tad quieter (you can sneak when running - which is ridiculous IMHO - but tend to get heard over longer distances than when walking).
Since this comes up in the Combat Academy, here's some remarks on how I usually govern mercs movement:
1. Walking is normally used outside combat mode, to explore the sector and talk to people - energy is conserved, and there's no immediate danger that would necessitate other movement modes. Rarely used in combat
2. Running is used primarily in combat mode, for rapid tactical maneuvers (i.e. running up to help the pinned buddy, or getting one's a$$ out of a hotspot). Sometimes used outside combat mode if I need a particular merc in a particular spot, pronto.
3. Crouching (often sneaked) is my primary combat movement mode, providing a good compromise between mobility, breath loss, and profile presented towards enemy. Almost never used outside combat, for the same reasons.
4. Crawling prone is used under heavy fire or in concealed position for minute position adjustments or keeping your a$$ under cover. If I have to move more than two-three tiles, I use crouching instead, unless bullets start zipping all around.
All the above are just guidelines, and common sense must be used at all times when assessing situation.
