Hi,
I just compiled Stacciatella and the 800x600 mod for OS X. No problems with compiling and both run fine, except when playing an area the framerate is really choppy. There is a noticable lag when moving the mouse and animations crawl along. I am just curious is there anything I can do to speed gameplay so it runs smoother?

Great project and I am very happy to seen the great community behind this game.

Best,
Fen

Run it in full screen ("ja2 -fullscreen") and if it's not enough, compile it with JA2BETAVERSION and JA2TESTVERSION off in the "Makefile" file.

SDL 1.2 had problems with the Mac OS windowed driver in the past, and probably still has.

Hi,
Thanks this fixes the problem nicely. Occasionally, I am getting a "Bus Error" when loading new maps. Has this been address? I also could not find any mention in the forums.

Best,
Fen

Hi Fenwick, welcome to the forum. Great to see another OSX player here.

One issue I've always had is:
The game will always crash when you encounter a new enemy after going into windowed mode and back. In other words: never even go into windowed mode, it will eventually result in a crash. The palettes are messed up directly after going back into fullscreen, which is a bad omen... and indeed, the game will soon crash.

In addition to this, the bus errors I've encountered were all related to bugs. If you go back into the history of this forum, you might find more information. I can remember several being related to invalid sector ID's. What source code revision are you playing? The code I'm running now, doens't crash anymore, but for some really rare occasions.
