"Bots" for Multiplayer[message #282728] Wed, 08 June 2011 17:22 Go to next message

I was thinking of a new idea for multiplayer Co-op.

Would it be possible to integrate a "bot" type of player?

I know it is possible to assign random teams via XML. Could we have a "bot" running one of these teams? Essentially it would be a amped up "militia" type of thing.

You need to wait until 'someone' has improved the current (and/or wrote a new) A.I.
The current A.I. barely knows one side of a gun is more hazardous than the other and in 99,999% of all the attemps the A.I. will point that end towards the enemy.

Attempts in developing a new A.I. have been made and abandoned multiple times.

A bot game with the current A.I. will result in a 'shoot the duck!' contest.
