I have tried to play with the maps only version of WF. Actually, I really like AIM (and NAS + STOMP) but I dislike, sometimes intensely, everything about WF, except the maps which are *much better* than vanilla. The snag is that I have run into some problems with WF maps only (for the record: used Jinxed compilation with NAS + STOMP). Here are the ones I can remember:
1. Sector names: WF-maps only is old, and since then sector names have been externalized in an xml. As you can imagine, since WF does not have this file, you get their names mixed.
2. Civilians also get mixed -- e.g. Kingpin's men in Drassen, Doreen kids (actually grown-ups...) out of the factory, etc. The underlying problem may well be the same as in 1., the recent externalization of some civilian stuff.
3. No Eldorado or Army Jeep. Do not know if they were in the original WF maps, so this may not be a problem or bug in the strict sense of the word. Even adding the relevant entries in MercProfiles.xml did not make them appear. Oh well.
I should also add that installing the Mapupdate on top of WF-maps-only is a no-no and not just because of the nada items, e.g. the mercs will get mixed up.
Regards, G. Rodrigues

Guys, I'm having a lot of problems trying to get the full Wildfire 6.06 mod working. Let me talk you through what I'm doing (I've retried this in about a million different ways):
-Install JA2
-Install 1.13
-Update 1.13
-Copy Data-1.13 and rename it to the wildfire folder
-Copy all data from Wildfire repository over the main directory of JA2, overwriting and merging folder
The problems I'm running into are:
-A massive amount of errors, all along the lines of:
"The value [Tactical Tooltip Settings][SOLDIER_TOOLTIP_DISPLAY_HEAD_SLOT_2] = "" in file [Ja2_Options.ini] is neither TRUE nor FALSE. The value TRUE will be used."
when I start the game.
-During the game itself, Fatima is missing, and there is no stairway to the rebel base.
I have gotten the maps only version working successfully, but I'd love to play the real deal.
I really hope somebody will be able to help me out - I love JA2, been playing it for years, but shamefully I have only come across this mod now.
X
Also - there are about 10 extra mercenaries all with no names, no descriptions and same portraits on the second page of AIM. Is this normal?

Yeah, I was going to do it manually, but for some reason it never occurred to me that there would be a separate file for every map sector, plus a bunch of other files. @#%! that!
Guess it's time to DL tortoise or rapid svn and figure out how to use it.
Edit: RapidSVN was pretty easy to figure out. Repository --> Export, typed in the proper URL, selected a download folder... and if you've already started manually downloading stuff, clicking "overwrite" prevents an error. Cake!
Now, hopefully this actually is compatible with my new install after this trouble.

ShiftyWell, something's gone disastrously wrong. I don't think Omerta is supposed to be made almost entirely out of clotheslines and wrecked cars, is it? Ah well. I was looking for an excuse to reinstall anyways. Hii-yah!
Oh noes! This happened to me, too.
Copied the same 6 folders specified earlier in the thread, right into the Data 1.13 directory.
Any idea what I might have done wrong? Guess I'll look for the mentioned map utility. Maybe that will fix it.

Welcome back, guys. I've just started new game after couple of months. You are still doing great work with all new 1.13 features. I'm playing on WF maps and that's why I'm writing here. I've noticed that few city sectors, which in original 1.13 weren't parts of the cities, like sector C14 (Drassen) or A1/B1 Chitzena are undefended by enemy - sometimes mobile enemy forces are passing through, but these sectors doesn't have its own garrisons. Is it normal or it shouldn't be like that? Cheers.
