With Overhaul Games working on Baldur's Gate enhanced Edition at the moment the question is obvious.

Is there any chance JA2 would get such a revamp?

Though BG isnt my cup of tea I think its amazing that a 1998 game gets to be improved with polished graphics and some limited new content. JA series seem to have similar classic status like BG so why not? Or its absolutely out of question for JA series due to JABiA release and interests of JA rights owners?
Have no idea if its cheaper to develop a new game or to enhance an old one. I think it would sell well judging by the franchise fanbase. Better than JABiA perhaps.

Cheers

without the polished graphics you're pretty much talking about 1.13 right?
BiA is a failed attempt imo and this revamp doesnt have to be made by a commercial party to actually be a revamp.
1.13 and mods check all the boxes in terms of features and items

Hello OKRB and welcome to the forum,

Maybe the "New Classic" mod by Starchris is exactly that what you are looking for?

@Tais
I meant that there seems to be a trend of remaking older titles which I like very much. Was just wondering if JA series is attractive for developers to remake it. And dont you say you wouldnt like a "new" JA game, even if it was only a JA2 revamp Smile

@Scheinworld
Hi mate. Thanks for the link, looks nice however...

...as I posted in the mod subforum - I want to play JA2 vanilla (like I always do with games at first walkthrough) but the default resolution isnt acceptable. There is this 800*600 mod or the New Classic which is an improvement but still not good enough. Then there is the venerable 1.13 which adds 1024*768 which is perfect but it also un-vanillize the game.
I am probably going to try applying 1.13 for higher res and turning off most of its features, silly as it sounds Smile

Really surprised there is no up-to-date resolution mod for vanilla.

That's what I meant with BiA (Jagged Alliance: Back in Action), this is a game from the people that bought the rights to the JA franchise and they tried to make a modern version/revamp of JA2, only they miserably failed on the graphical and gameplay department

They failed miserably. Period.
And when they realized how much they'd fail, they changed the name from 'Reloaded' to 'Back in Action' and pretended it wasn't a remake despite receycling the same setting, story and mercs. You expect those scammers to make a faithful revamp?

Well, for Unfinished Business at least Starchris created a "Multiple Resolutions" mod:

http://kermi.pp.fi/JA_UB/Mods/Other/Multiple_Resolutions/

I suppose something similar could be done for JA2 vanilla too, but if you really want to get a final answer to this maybe you should ask/write the author himself. He is even registered in this forum and his e-mail is in the .pdf file of his "New Classic" mod for example Wink

I do not consider JABIA a remake of JA, imo its just another title in the franchise. What I meant was the case of BG remake which basically only a graphic revamp (most importantly adds modern resolutions) and wondered if JA could get the same treatment.
And for the record I enjoyed JABIA immensely, had been waiting for a game like it for very long time...only must wait for the add-on to get cheaper Smile

@Scheinworld
thanks for the hint, I will try to PM him
