breaking news: secret assassin procedure discovered

let's say you need money and think you know who got it. if you follow this procedure step by step the money will be all yours and there won't be any consequences (this example involves tony, hans and flo)

hans as the victim, (i know he's not rich - the reason i choose him is that i'm in san mona right now)
tony as the weeping 'relative'
flo as the merciless assassin

stuff you neeed: a gasmask and a mustard gas grenate

1. flo uses her gasmask and pays hans a visit (tile next to him, of course - best is to corner him behind his counter)
2. blow up the mustard gas granate in flo's inventory
3. buy from tony whatever you want (he doesn't get hostile for that)

it also works when you gas tony (but hans has only porn to sell)

for money gas darren van hausen (he's also dutch) - if you don't do extrem fighting, that is; kingpin won't give a damn

Maybe you should also tell which unofficial, unstable version of game one needs to have mercs with deadly farts ... Wink

(in v4870 you cannot blow a grenade in merc's inventory, can you? One would need a version with Flug's according optional feature, i'd assume?)

For your info... I was aware that this possibility would exist with this feature. If the player wants to be a lamer, he may do so, the game is widely open to all kinds of cheating/abuses anyway.

Also, the possibility exists to make this viable to the AI too...

my dear duckling,

i'm not talking about a suicide merc/redshirt - i'm talking about gasing civilians for their money and not annoy their factions - if you throw that gasgrenate at them you'll cause all kind of havoc to your team - if you do it this way their faction considers it a tragic incident.

i NEVER said anything about that - i don't understand why this thing is not an attack to the 'san mona arms'-faction

to me the suicide merc/redshirt is no way related to faction members NOT responding to the anihalation of one of their buddies - the ai does not gas civilians, and i'm talking all the way about civilians.

if you use that exploit you are about to make 45.050 $ with getting any problems with kingpin's faction - you just need to gas darren (15.000 $), damon (50 $) and kingpin (20.000 $) - if you don't need damons change you can do that with just one mustard gas grenade - oops.

45k early in the game without some rather heavily armed guys on your heals and the whole of san mona to roam - i call that a cheat not a possum. all i want is make this kind of a sneak attack on a rich guy an attack at all.

@ ente

is there a way of making a killed (for whatever reason) npc an attack by the player (or whatever defines a faction to go to war)? - it is in standard 1.13. you see that when you get the militia to shoot eldin. (1. blow a hole in the museum's wall - 2. eldin gets mad - 3. the militia shoots him - 4. >YOUR loya in balime goes rockbottom)

... and by all means i kinda love that sneak attack but it should have consequences (i had tony watch flo gassing hans and no reaction)

It's a regrettable accident due to circumstances not in anyone's control if a grenade goes off in the merc's inventory, not an attack.

Also, cheating? Really? There's this thing called ini, you probably never heard of it.

BTW: AFAIR Flug's new features are fully optional, meaning that you can deactivate the basic feature allowing for the exploit in the ini if you don not like the exploitable feature.

i never killed everyone

i admit i thought of a playthrew in which personal rules made it necessary to shoot everyone with a name who did not join immediately

BUT I NEVER DID THAT

... and kingpin is supossed to be killed, isn't he?

and if it's not doable codewise just say it and i'll shut up instantly - if it did make any sense a sneak attack should make a faction even more to go nuts than a 'manly' attack face to face.

edith:

it would be especially nice if a merc with the duck's new trait would be able to do it as it is now (if not seen by anyone else) - as of now even biff is james bond. with that trait as expert (s)he might even be able to sneak and gas enemy-npcs under certain circumstances.
