Hi
The current discussion in the covert ops thread reminded me of something the bugged me for a while now.
Right now, Elites don't really more rarer & more expensive weponry than regular soldier, they just have earlier eccess to higher progress weapons.
I think it would be much better if all enemies were on the same "progress" level, but had different loadouts according to type. It would also allow to limit specialist equipment like silencers to elites only.
As an example, how I would do it:
Toggle SpoilerAdmins:
Civilian weapons, ww2 relics, cheap mass produced weapons, no snipers
no grenades, no weapon attachments
coolness slightly lower than current progress
Regulars:
cheap mass produced weapons, mid-prized common weapons, few snipers
cheap grenades (mostly regular explosive), few weapon attachments (quite regular stuff, only weak scopes)
coolness about the same than current progress
Elites:
High variety in weapons
Expensive modern weapons, prototypes, heavy weapons (grenade launchers, rocket launchers), fair amount of snipers
Lots of grenades (also special grenades like mustard gas), lots of high grade weapon attachments, specialist equipment (gas masks, night vision)
coolness above current progress
specific gunchoices for the different militia levels would of course also be great (do they use EnemyGunChoices.xml? didn't find anything else)
The feature could of course be optional... and even if not, old behaviour could be easily be created within a new system.
whatcha think?

The necessary work would be do copy the existing xml, the xml-routines and then to differentiate according to a soldier's class. Could also apply to militia as well, giving them a different load-out altogether. Pretty straightforward, tedious, boring work really
Edit: Apparently I was bored.
