Hi everyone,

I created this account just to ask this question!

First of all, I discovered this game a few months ago and boy, it's a lot better than I anticipated. The amount of depth in tactics, strategies is astounding, I really love the game.

So, for the bad part now. I recently realized that I can't use the mouse wheel to aim. How did I find out? I was always using single shot, increased the aiming level by right clicking, then used burst or full auto to fire.

Now, I have a few mercs on auto-only MGs, and they can't hit anything. that's when I found out you're supposed to be able to aim with the mouse wheel, but it doesn't work with me.

I'm using an alienware laptop, brand new from last september. My mouse is a standard 40$ microsoft mouse, nothing fancy about it.

My biggest issue is that I can,t use the keyboard to increase the aiming levels... man, that is so annoying! I'm literally putting my playthrough on pause until I find a fix to this. I stopped all programs that could cause problems (alienware stuff, logipad programs and such) to no avail...

If you can help me, you will save a 60 hours campaign...

Check the options.ini if 'enable_ext_mouse_keys' is 'true'.

If that doesn't solve the issue, pls. tell which version of the game exactly, any mods you might also use, and which exact version of win you're running.

Try if scrolling bar on touchpad may work.

Disable touchpad to make sure the mouse is used for everything.

Hi,

the enable_ext_mouse_keys is set to true, that's the first thing I checked.

I'm using Windows 7, game is running through Steam, with the 1.13 patch version 4870, no other mods are running.

Touchpad has always been disabled, so I doubt it's causing the issue, I'll try and test another mouse to see if the current mouse I'm using is the source of the problem, but it works for all other games.

ok, just tested another mouse and it worked fine, will try and find drivers that will make my current mouse work currently (tested mouse wasn't mine so I had to give it back)

I'm glad to see it's a solvable issue, worst case scenario, I buy a new mouse

Does your mouse scroll wheel have distinct clicks, or does it spin smoothly? My higher end MS mice, 2-way scrolling models, have never worked with this feature - switched back to cheaper MS Comfort 6000, with dented scroll wheel, works just fine.

Issue solved! I had to download the drivers from Microsoft's website, they're too cheap to give an install CD with their stuff.... problem resolved, can play the game again Very Happy
