I'm noticing a lot more stat-damaging hits (e.g., "x loses 2 points of Dexterity") in this version (1.13 stable 4870) than in vanilla. I find those especially annoying and in vanilla tend to use jape to restore the damaged stat. There is no jape-equivalent for 1.13, however.
Is there a variable in the .ini that controls the frequency of stat-damaging hits? Ideally, I'd prefer not to see them for my mercs at all. It doesn't much matter for the other side as they will all end up dead anyway. Yes, yes, I know they make combat more "realistic," but combat in JA2 is not supposed to be realistic.
