Well, I recently got my new Windows 8 computer but JA2 doesn't boot up. Running the hard copy version of Gold with Vanilla 1.12 it just stops before the Sir-Tech comes up, even if I try the Compatibility Troubleshooter thingy.
Now, I roughly understand how to do it from these topics: here, here and here.
Basically, I need to install the V1.13 patch and some .dll files from a Wine component. Now, I mostly understand but I have a bunch of questions:
1) I want to play it like Vanilla still, the second thread linked above says that I can do this by changing the .ini file and it'll only apply the bugfixes and the rest will be like Vanilla. Is there any other effect if I do this, like abilities, quests or whatever being different?
2) The most important bit, will my old saves still work? This really is crucial for me.
3) Norton deleted the Wine .exe from the first link both times I downloaded it, do I need to do something or will the .zip from the third link work right? And do I put the files in the "Jagged Alliance 2 Gold" folder or the "Jagged Alliance 2" folder?
4) What do I do about Unfinished Business and Wildfire when I decide to play them? The former is from the Gold disc and I have it installed, the latter is from Steam and I haven't reinstalled it yet.

Thanks in advance and sorry for asking something about my game yet again. Please let me know if I put this in the wrong section.
