I am not expecting something like bigmaps... although I personally like it a lot, its too much for most players.

Edit: 64 on the same ~sq m visual scale? That's ... not much. 40% linear and a mere 16% area.
And I think its quite safe to assume that one tile is roughly the same as in ja2 or any other comparable game, anything else wouldn't make too much sense...
Unless its designed for early-game pistol fights, or a non-combat encounter, I find this very worrying.
