I don't know why, but when I put on / take off a scope it one time shows the sight range modifier (in numbers), the next time it doesn't.

I noticed this too, I ususally am in the "Advanced" tab and see the modifiers differ each time I replace an optic.

What's going on is that each time you put on the scope the eye/sight/scope icon showing the scope mode is changed (the one you change with the period "." key).

Each time you add the scope to the weapon, drop back to tactical and look at the icon, you'll see what I mean. Then remove/add the scope again and go back to tactical. The icon was different when I tested this.

It isn't a major issue, you can still press period to change the mode.

But the behavior is confusing so consider it a bug with an easy workaround, just press period to get back to the mode you prefer.
