How on earth do I unjam a gun? Seems like it should be a simple question with a simple answer! But I can't work it out.

Usually by attempting to fire it again.

However if the gun is too badly damaged this may not work, and if it's jammed it's close to that too badly damaged threshold allready. Sometimes unloading it and then reloading it will work too, especially if you've repaired it in the meantime.

If your mechanical skill/dexterity is good you should be able to clear the jam by trying to fire it again, may take a few attempts. Usually after turned based has stopped is the best time to clear it. I always try to keep back up guns on me when I know the gun I am trying to use is getting worn down. After battle repairing will also fix it.

If the merc's skill is not good enough, wait for turn-based to end and pass the gun on to a merc with a good mechanical skill. He is more likely to unjam the gun on the first try and won't cause too much damage.
And like Marlboro Man wrote: bring back-up guns!

One time I had a PRISTINE (100%) AK-74 jam on Ivan the first time I had him fire it in combat. Ended up using all of his APs for that turn unjamming it.

Yeah I'll repost the jam probability formula tonight. It's not very complicated, and it will answer your question.

Oh yeah, Hashiriya, are you using JA2 or JA2 1.13? That will make a huge difference Smile
