To make it so u can train militia.

And for some reason, my Grumm Mine militia lose almost every battle, is there a way to make them better?

2 things can be a problem.

1) You took the Chalice of Chance. If you take that, they'll never gain as much morale.

2) You keep getting losses or not enough wins.

The way to train it is to wait for them to get to 20%. Train the militia and then take the chalice and give it to who you give it to.

Hope this Helps.

Never took the chalice.

If I go around and look for random battles and win them, does that help loyalty of cities, even if it has nothing to do with the city?

Well, taking the chalice to Yanni in Chitzena boosts the loyalty, so you can train militia.

Just make sure that the guard does not see this happen.

If you can't do the previous, kill patrols. Each patrol eliminated adds one per cent of loyalty (or at least for me it does).

Get the Securety guard away from the Chalise before you steal it because if he sees you steal it he will start shooting at you(it is his job to guard the museum after all), You'll be forced to kill him then and if you kill him the people in Balime will hate you even more then they already did for taking the chalise from them. Don't kill the securty guard!

But if I steal the chalice, then bring it back to Chitzena, won't that raise just the Chitzena loyalty? I know Balime isn't supposed to know about u taking it, but how does it help ur loyalty there.

Also, where is the Bloodcat Lair?

C'mon guys there is a existing thread for this.
Here's a short solution for your problems.

Take Balime.
Steal the chalice at night between 2 and 4 AM, the security guard won't be around then. Use a Merc with good lockpicking skills to open the door at the entrance to get inside/outside.

Take the chopper to Chitzena at daytime, or Yanni won't be around and give him the chalice. Loyalty will raise in ALL the concquered cities.

Bloodcat lair is in sector I16, take lots of HP ammo and minimal a squad of 6 Mercs with machineguns.

Thanx Headshot!
It never occurred to me to try breaking in after 'The Golden Girls' went off the air. This makes perfect sense and will spare me from either having to bitch slap the old dude or be run off the sector by a duffer with a Desert Eagle.

@Khor1255

No need to break in aswell. Just put your lockpicking Merc next to the chalice (but out of the security-alarm area DUH) during daytime in Real-time. Then give your mercs the usual repair/practice/teach/whatever orders and stuff you do after you conquered a town and press the time compress button untill 4AM. Then steal the chalice, lockpick the door to get outside and wait untill 8AM and take the chopper to Chitzena where Yanni will be waiting for you :ok:

Oh and am i the only one cracking myself up while watching the cutscene after you take Balime? I mean, damn, Elliot is slapped 3 times man! Very Happy

Elliot: "yes my queen, after i help your friends unpack"

*SLAP-SLAP-SLAP*

Queen D: "NOW ELLIOT, NOW!!!"

Hilarious! :ok:

I have found Yanni many times at night in one of the houses in the north sector of Chitzena, however I don't know if he'll receive the Chalice at night.

@Tuccy

Yes he does, but i usually prefer the early morning so i can drop by Tony in San Mona or Drassen Airport to pick up goodies from Bobby Ray's [bigcool]

What i mend with Yanni not being around is just that he won't be at his usual spot at the entrance of the ruines.

I'm pretty sure loyalty works differently for Balime than any of the other cities. It seems like town loyalty is based on how many battles you win (I don't think militia battles count) after you take the city.

I once waited for five days with the city at 17% loyalty and it never changed, but when I went to get the hummer I got into a fight, won and loyalty went up to 20%.

I'd suggest picking a few fights around Balime to get the loyalty up. The best use for the chalice is after you start taking Meduna, where you actually need the militias help.

@Happybjorn

Loyalty under 20% (Needed before you can train militia)never raises on its own unless a battle is won close to or in the city itself by you or Militia in a town or SAM site nearby. As you found out, you need to go out there and kick some butt :rifle: for that measly 3% that will give you the opportunity to train Militia.

@Magraev

Why wait so long? You can easily take 3 sectors of Meduna on the first day, rest and repair and take another sector the other day. You will have enough loyalty and after that you can kick back and train militia to repel counterattacks or decide to make the final push to the Palace.

OR...take the Airfield and the Palace Gardens, enter the bunker, clean it out, enter the palace, kill Joe, kill Elliot and butcher Queen D. No need to take the other 3 sectors Very Happy

Well I like to take my own sweet time about the end-game, and therefore I need the militia in Meduna. I couldn't possibly take 3 sectors in one day - I get shot up too much... :sadyellow:

What tactics do you use when fighting in Meduna then?

**warning minor DL spoiler below**

Actually I just took 4 sectors in meduna yesterday over a 2 game-day period so I guess I can do it. this was in DL though, it seemed easier than I remembered, maybe because of the teleporter access, and I got out of a sticky situation in the samsite (Ice out for the count and greys closing in on him) when everything exploded around the site (damaging Magic a bit, but killing or wounding at least 3-4 greys).

Usually I'd trek in from the east and grab the bloodcat-arena, the samsite, the airfield and the "city" of meduna first, then go for the garden, where I'll rest up and move my inventory.

I hate those "hurry up" messages from Enrico, I'd like to take 100-200 days at least to finish the game.

The hurry up messages aren't tied to total time spent in the campaign. As near as I can figure, there is a "progress counter" set at X number of days. If you haven't had a successful attack on an enemy controlled sector in X number of days then you will get the message and drop in town morales. I frequently get the hurry up message after taking Drassen, I like to take my time and get some half decent equipment from patrols and defences before moving on. I've played games well past 100 days and can't remember ever getting the message after the first waiting phase. Taking town sectors definately resets the counter, I am not sure about places like Tixa or Orta.

I think it's 4 days inactive for the "hurry up" message. Loyalty drops on day 5. Attacking patrols usually counts as doing something. I'm not even sure if you have to win just as long as your trying.

Seems every 10 badguys you kill outside of town raises loyalty by 1%.

Hmmm, i managed to kill the museum guard and take the chalice upon conquering Balime, i got a measly 5% loyalty due to that. I continued the game fighting the bugs and taking Grumm, it's 7% now. Should i just forget about Balime, or can i still get it to 20 by delivering that chalice (and fighting battles in and around balime)?

Dude, don't kill the museum guard, that pretty much kills the result you were hoping for.

Do the same thing at night, sneak in, shut off the alarm and grab the chalice without being spotted. Get it to Chitzena and you'll have a 20% increase.
