Every new game breaks when I load but I'm not modding after I start[message #343123]

I checked the error reporting and it just says "[ DB4S7-UVNEO-2AQLA-TTWLJ-LPMWE ] [9.16771e-006] : "

Here are the "symptons" one of my merc's picture is changed to skyrider's and AIM becomes unusable (all the mercs are gone)

Any known issues that cause this? I am not editing any files after a start a new game, I've only used the .ini and xml editor to make changes.

EDIT: even after reinstalling the game and 1.13 without ANY modification I get the same results - are there random temp files/save games something stored in windows outside of the installation folder that the game keeps referring to?

Yeah, it's a pity, but please don't use XML-Editor for changing anything (just for viewing only!), as it breaks things. We know that from Vengeance: Reloaded mod development just too "good".

For MercStartingGear editing you can try Dansken's MercStartingGear editor for example:

For all kind of .xml editing better use Notepad++ instead:

oh good to know about the XML editor, is dreamweaver ok to edit the xmls or should i use Notepad++? also is there anything to explain why an uninstall and reinstall has not fixed the glitches? the game is unplayable now which kinda sucks
