hello all
yes, the subject says it all.
anyone knows what events trigger the bugs quest? i know that that going to caves below tixa dungeon does. does also only going to tixa itself? and what if dont go to tixa for a long time, does the quest get triggered by time?
maybe add two more things while i am at it:
- tons of guns option just makes more different guns drop, but does not make more guns drop, right?
- this is some strange bug, one of my items in cambria mine ended up on the inaccessible part of the map (up on the mountain). dunno if it was dropped there after militia autoresolved battle or one of my mercs dropped the item via strategic screen inventory. i guess its lost... strategic screen shows it as grey and says 'cannot be picked up from here'
thanks in advance for any input
vilik

I've gotten the bug quest before going into Tixa, so that can't be a trigger. The Tixa dungeon isn't the only trigger, but it is one nevertheless.

I think the Tixa trigger is actually the bug cave below the Tixa dungeon. I have tried to delay the bug quest by not entering the bug cave after clearing the dungeon (where Shank is). While entering the bug cave will trigger the bug quest right away, by not entering the bug cave, I was able to get 3/4 of the way through Alma before it was triggered (I don't know what eventually triggered it in that case, and I don't know whether meeting Gabby affects it either).

well, i got the creature quest before ever setting foot in tixa. i got it right after liberating alma. i had liberated drassen, chitzena and cambria beforehand, so perhaps it happens after a certain number of towns/mines/sams are captured.
it might even be *getting* the tixa quest that triggers it. i'm more inclined to go with the # of mines owned, though.

Actually, the trigger for the bug quest is liberating the 4th mine according to the strat guide. That also seems to match what just happened in my game. I took my 4th mine and then took the next sector and trained my first squad of militia. Immediatly after that ( day or so after taking the mine) I got he word that the bugs were on the loose. (Lucky for me that it is the mine I just got so I at least didn't lose any income.)

When you liberate your 4th mine, you get a cut-scene where Elliot tells her that the people are starting to turn against her. She waks him and starts to walk off and then turns back and tells her to quit feeding the bugs. It is triggered by capturing your 4th mine. As a matter of fact, in my present game, I liberated all of Alma but the mine and then rested up/repaired everything so I could hit the bugs as fast as possible. Sure enough, less than a day after taking the Alma mine, I got the message than Drassen was shutting down.

I'm not sure how the bug quest actually triggers, but it did happen to me after liberating cities in this order:
Drassen, Chitzena, Cambria, and Alma. In this order, the bugs get triggered in Drassen.
Another way of how the bug quest gets triggered is after conquering Drassen and Chitzena (In that order), and then trying to take Grumm, the bugs get triggered in Grumm.
Also, the bugs attack the mines that you own.
Also, I noticed that the smaller the actual mine is, the larger the nest is. Drassen has two mine sectors, and the bug nest beneath it has six sectors. In Grumm, the mine has five sectors, and the nest is only two sectors.
I hate the bugs... but it is worth taking care of them before killing the queen, as it gives you the benefit of the jelly, which gives you strong Spectra armor.

Hi, I know this is a old topic, but my question is about the bug-quest.
I started a new game. I haven't been to any city's yet. I have three SAM-sites, been in Orta and went to Tixa. Killed the bugs in the dungeon and the bug-quest is triggerd.
How can the people turn against deidranna if i haven't conquered any city's???

I don't quite understand you're question but the people of Alruco are already on the brink of rebellion even before the game starts. When any viable rebel action takes place there would therefore be a popular uprising if not in blood then at least in spirit.
